I betcha that title peeked a few peoples interest. No, its only semi automatic:( but its as close as I'm ever going to come to the real thing and its almost finished and I couldn't wait to show it off.

So here it is: (Whoops. Thats what it started out as)
1917-11.jpg

Then after a lot of machining it turned into this:

And then after a Duracoat job, it turned into this:

and this

Its basically a 10/22 without a stock. Its mostly aluminum with a few brass accent pieces. The trigger guard had to be machined rather agressively so it will never be a normal 10/22 again. But the trigger group, receiver and barrel are all still the same old Ruger stuff just housed in this rather elaborate, shall I say, full stock. And its built at half scale so its about 32" long.

I estimate about 80 hours of shop time to build this thing and about $3000 in extra machine tools. At the very least I now have a good sized lathe and mill for future projects.:D

My biggest problem right now is figuring out where the trigger lock goes.:p

Many thanks to Navy Shooter who introduced me to the web site that offers the drawings for this build. Oh and my wife said she wants to have words with you?:p Must be about the ammo belt she's making for it. No, really, she is making an ammo belt for it. I'm going use .223 inert rounds which look pretty close to scale for this project. I still need to replace the sights which are off my Lee Enfield and there is a different tripod for this model of machine gun thats in the works. I've had it to the range, and besides the stares and crowds (not that bad actually) it shoots OK. I have to strengthen the trigger return spring as it's not re-setting itself so right now its single shot. Its also been sighted in and groups about 2" at 20yds. but hey its not a target rifle now, is it.

Anyways, just wanted to show it off. Thanks for looking.

I'm not really a big fan of the Krinker/tactical build type stuff. To be honest I don't really see the point ...

BUT - That is a thing of beauty !!!!! Congratulations, you've done an excellent job.

Any chance your mods change the classification of the rifle?

just have to ask to question which website do you find those drawings/plans for that build ,im real interested not to copy your idea just to modify one of mine. also does it fall under a restricted class now
