Hey Guys;

Many of you are aware that Huntress & I had to say good-bye to our beloved English Pointer Bamma. If you want to read that thread, here it is;

http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=422744

Anyhow, I won't dwell on her loss, cause I am sure Bamma wouldn't want us to... So, without further adieu! Here is the new addition to our family!

Say hello to "Nos" the Deutsch Drahthaar! He's 9 weeks old & well, he's a monster!!! I keep telling Huntress that he will be a well mannered gun dog shortly, but she remains unconvinced, choosing instead to call him, & I quote, "The PeePee Monster!" Ha ha ha!!!

Oh ya, Huntress's students named him Nosferatu, since he's from an "N" litter, born on Friday the 13th of November and they are all reading those Vampire books... You gotta admit, it's unique & I bet you've never met another "Nos" puppy!

Cheers
Jay
P.S. He loves his "duckie", but Huntress also bought him a monkey... And well, he "spanks" the hell out of the monkey... So, no pics there boys & girls, ha ha ha!

UPDATE... Nos is growing like crazy! Just check out the difference in size when compared to his "duckie"!!!

AND... Nos renovated part of the kitchen one day when he was bored... I guess he didn't like one of Huntress's plants & then he took the Lysol bottle into his kennel in an attempt to "clean up"??? ha ha ha

And yes, he ate a banana & it's peel, to no effect! I call him Nos the "Iron Gut Puppy"!!! ha ha ha

Nos is a good name for a gun dog, :) it means nose in serbian.

Now that's cool!

Where did you get the pup? I've been looking at DD breeders for the inevitable day when I need to get another pup, and the DD has been on my must have list for a long time.

Just look at vdd-canada.ca That's the group Canada website. (& their Links) Lots to read, excellent breeding & commitment to developing the best hunting dogs! Nos is from the Breed Warden (retired now) & his "N" litter. Not sure if the pics of the parents & their pedigree is still up on the website, but it is impressive!

Thanks for all the comments guys, after losing Bamma, Huntress & I needed this monster in our lives.

Cheers

Congrats ! I just got my first hunting dog this past summer and have loved every minute with Radar since.

Sorry for your loss but Nos looks like he'll be able to take all the affection you can toss his way!

PS, is that one of the American Kennel Club "duckies"? Radar has one and loves it as well!

Thanks casterpollox, nope, not american kennel club duckie, just one from the pet store... He does love the darn thing though!

Congrats on the new pup Jay!

The wife & I had one of those - our first dog together. They are a handful and then some. Luckily, I had a big farm I could run him on - because they NEVER run out of energy. The are very smart dogs too - smarter than people give them credit for.

Enjoy your new hunting partner and remember not to play "Tug-of-War" with his 'duckie'.;)

10-4, NO tug of war with my hunting dogs! Lots of play with no commands till he's older & they can be "inforced"... The #1 rule with dogs (IMHO) is; 9 parts praise & love, 1 part discipline & correction... Right now, we are on the "become his best buddy" stage.

Cheers

Because if he brings a bird to you and you go to tug it out of his mouth, he might try and pull it away, playing "tug of war". It's best to just not play tug of war, that way when you want something that the dog has in it's mouth, be it bird or maybe something dangerous like a piece of plastic, he'll give it right away.
