I picked up a used Citori 725 last fall, after trap season, and I've been doing some reading to make sure that I'm at least close to being ready for the spring.

One item that keeps coming up is the Invector DS tubes that come with the gun running close on 2 sizes too large for their listed constriction, such as the modified being more like an IC. Some say they are biased for Steel rather than Lead.

I use the modified, mostly, in my other gun (11-87) for Trap. It looks like I might have to buy some Carlsons tubes to get anything close to that constriction in the 725

Are you DS fellows using the supplied tubes on the range, or are you replacing them with aftermarket?

Or do the Browning ones "just work" despite the conventional wisdom?

I'm still very new to this removable choke business..

I am using Briley extended chokes in both my 12 and 20 gauge 725 shotguns. I have never witnessed such an improvement in patterns by changing to aftermarket chokes as I did when I replaced the factory DS chokes.

Thanks

I tried putting the calipers to mine last night, but I'm not certain that I'm measuring correctly, unless Browning changed them recently.

A true measurement can only be done with a bore gauge . the bores also need to be done to get the true constriction of the chokes .

Thanks

I didn't bother trying to measure them, I patterned them, since that is really what matters. The factory DS chokes produced larger patterns for the same choke designation , and the patterns were not very uniform. The Briley choke tubes resulted in smaller, more uniform patterns.

I have been using Carlson chokes in my 725 and my wife's 725 skeet with great results. I had no issue with factory but I wanted extend for barrel protection and ease to see choke and tightness. I just got two comp n chokes to try for no reason other then to get ic chokes
