IPSC 1 match/year?

Nothing funny about it, and not trying to stir the pot, it's the plain and simple truth. Mr. Representative.

So all of these IPSC members (some very long-standing and active) are talking amongst themselves about how the IPSC Ontario website is lacking in functionality and usability and you decide your limited access to the landing page gives you the insight to argue...hmmm.

I Look forward to revisiting this discussion after you’ve actually been a member for a year or two...Maybe one day in the not too distant future we will meet at a match and we can laugh about it.

and section president were saying it out loud that section has too many members.

It's probably more accurate to say..."we don't have enough active clubs and supporting infrastructure" Membership has more than doubled in Ontario over the last number of years. The number of Sanctioned clubs is not growing at the same pace.

To all...don't crap on the volunteers (those on the BOD and the many that volunteer in other ways) It's a thankless job...

Euxx...hope to see you on the range in 2020. I don't venture too far out of 613 these days

Give em hell

Your are correct, I cannot and should not speak on the parts that I cannot access (members area) which I don't believe I have been, is so my apologies to all. If my perception of the website and its functionality doesn't change after I have been a member for a year or two, can we still laugh about. :)

It often is a thankless job and can be a headache at times, but for the most part I think volunteers recognize this going in. I know I did and still do, but I believe for the most part volunteers are a special breed and don’t do what they do for the ‘thanks’ or recognition. Although it is nice when some go out of their way to do so.

Re. IPSC club and match spaces. I don’t buy the limited match availability argument for restricting Black Badge/IPSC numbers. Maybe if we had a huge rapid increase in numbers, but that’s not the case now. Pretty sure there was lots on unfilled spots at all the L3 HG and SG Matches we had this past season in Ontario, and we had a number of them. Some ‘popular’ matches do tend to initially fill up fast and can have a large waiting, but I find most other matches, mine included, usually have a fair number of unfilled spots. And even those ‘popular’ matches that initially fill very quickly, they usually have numerous drop-outs 1-3 days before the match or just plain no shows. And if you volunteer to help at the match, most MD’s will find a spot for you even if at full capacity. And I know once more MD’s start instituting a pay in advance policy, we’ll weed out the those flakey fair weather place-holder shooters that rush to sign up and end up often dropping out last minute. And then we’ll see many more spots open up for serious shooters that want to shoot.

I also believe more members will translate into more match volunteers which in turn will lead to more matches and new IPSC clubs. If you build it they will come.

Not the words I've heard. But there are existing ranges that are slowly and surely falling off the grid, including your local ranges. More new blood could help. But someone need to teach that new blood and that's not always available, or old blod is not willing to teach or hanging on, including your local range(s), as I've heard.

Even most enthusiastic volunteers could get derailed or have different priorities from what general membership would most benefit from. Including me.

That's when giving them crap helps. Though not all could listen and learn from that. Including me in some cases.

Yeah, too bad you missed the SG Nationals. Should see you next year.

Oh, I'd be very, very wary of that!
The best and safest source of information for IPSC in Canada is a direct email to the section or section coordinator in your province.

I'd just email the regional director directly. He likes to be bothered from what I understand :)

More clubs getting involved would be great. Unfortunately the gun culture is under attack by those wack job Libtards. This isn’t helping us any. Matches often seem to fill up very quickly, indicating a demand for more matches. Hence I appreciate the volunteers working matches. I am looking for an RO course this year to hopefully get more involved, but I’m definitely not a BOD kinda guy.
