Hey there Sig,
I'm bringing my daughter to the shoot on Saturday.
Was hoping Curt could talk to her about competing and show her his "Space Gun". She's been out to the range a few times and I would like to get her more involved.

I shoot before you guys.

(And you are considered a "junior" until age 21 in IPSC is what Storm really meant ;) )

So do most the fathers of the girls you were distracted with at that age!!
 
Just to throw in my .002...

The futures program is great! It helps defer the costs of entring this sport for the younger shooter (we should stop this cause they always end up beating the pants off us old folks... just kiddin of course) However in order to participate in the "Futures Program" in Ontario you must have a sponsor who is a member of IPSC ontario and in good standing therefore DEP, your Dad will have to be requalified or take the BB over again in order to sponsor you. Considering that he will have to travel with you and and be in direct supervision of you then It's really a no brainer... it's fun and like Storm said.. It'll make for some good father son bonding...
However if you're not able to get a sponsor (in Ontario) there doesn't say anything in the rules about you having to participate as a junior in the "Futures" program (again dealing with Ontario). You'll end up having to pay for your BB and membership because you didn't meet the criteria of the "Futures Program".. I'm sure someone would step up to help you out if you can't secure a sponsor but you never know...
I thought I'd mention this, just incase you couldn't find a sponsor and think you could not join without one.
You'll have to drag your parent to the matches anyway...might as well have your Dad join up and join in the fun.

Just as a side note to this thread. in Alberta any junior under the age of 18 gets to take their BB course FREE. in addition, IPSC Alberta does have single stack gear to lend out for a BB course, holsters, belts and mag holders.

He was 14 and 2 months at the time of the picture.

He has to work on his shoulder strength, the tan stock2 he shares with me sometimes can get a little to heavy for him sometimes,.....his reloads and draw are fine. His safety is above average.
 
my kid was 12 when he started than discovered girls at 14 and that was it, now I'm still trying to get the "bug " to bite again,even tried to entice him with a Tanfoglio stockII ,not sure if it's going to work,but it will certainly be cheaper to shoot than his STi Trubore 38 Super.All the juniors that I have seen shoot are amazingly safe for their age,but the instruction is second to none so we should expect no less.
