IPSC and the CFO? Holster carry between ranges?

If someone can send me a copy of correspondence from the Ontario CFO regarding this matter I will be more than happy express IDPA Canada's concerns regarding such a ruling. I doubt, however, such a ruling exists. It makes no sense.

Take Care

Bob

Hey Bob,

I addressed this whole mess a month ago. An Ont range I travel to forbade me to go to the safety area with a holstered gun. The Ont CFO is not my CFO. The last post in the referenced thread has bits from the Ont CFO memo to the ranges. I'd assumed all the Ont ranges got the memo, but maybe not. Nobody seemed too outraged at the time; I was thinking perhaps most ranges decided to ignore the memo. I have a hard copy which I scan and send you jpg images if you want to pm me your email.

Could ranges could be joined together by one big safety area.
Enter the safety area unbox.... and with firearm (long gun or pistol) unloaded and safe. Walk from the 100 yard stalls to the 200 yard stalls and back again or whatever... Just an example.
I posted before about making the entire site 1 range. Don't number them to make them separate.

Carefull, your using common sense and that will never fly with the feds...
As for making the site one big range the reg's wouldn't allow it as they are written. I like the common sense idea of the range property being a safe area but I don't honestly know if the reg's could/would support it, let alone the Ont. CFO.

You all (most?) have cell phones, correct? Every time you have to move to a new range call the Ontario CFO and request a short-term ATT.

"Hi, I'm calling for a short-term ATT please."

"Yes sir, when do you need it?"

"Right now."

"Oh, OK. What is the address?"

"3456 Line Road, My Club, range 3.'

"And where will you be taking the firearm?"

"To 3456 Line Road, My Club, range 1."

"And how long do you need to make the trip sir?"

"Oh, about 45 seconds."

"Sir, are you being serious, or are you trying to waste my time?"

"Oh, I'm completely serious, perhaps you should talk to your boss..."

If every shooter did that at every match, I bet the whole "lock it and bag it " BS would be forgotten in a week.

It sounds like a good idea :)

I'd like a solve to this dilemma but this ain't it. First off they'll tell you your LTATT is all thats required and will not issue a STATT. Plus even if they gave you a STATT ( or LTATT) it would still require locking and bagging.
I would think the conservative's could do an order in council to rectify the problem but good luck getting that done this year.
