Ipsc back up gun

I would think most people would prefer to practice with the gun they will be competing with. I do know some people that have match slide stops, magazines and other wear items that they swap out.

What about people who get the same gun in a .22 version for ammo cost reasons while practicing? Like the M&Ps? That is the only time I can think of not practicing with your competition pistol...

I bought a back-up 1911 after my barrel link broke on the first stage of the Alberta Provincials in 2013. I was able to scrounge a link and keep going, but if the timelines were pressed (smaller squads, for example), I'd have been SOL. Scrambling to conduct repairs mid-match vs. picking up a trusted back-up isn't worth the stress IMHO. (Now I don't shoot Open where a backup is $5k...).
