hi all,

quick question on the IPSC Black Badge course. first, is it a one-time deal or is it something that's needed to be done every X years? do i need to shoot IPSC matches in order to maintain my Black Badge status, or can i do the course and get the cert and then dabble in IPSC if i have the chance? do i need to maintain membership in an IPSC org to retain the BB?

You need to renew membership once a year.
I know a shooter who is a member but doesn't shoot any matches, however renew his membership religiously

You might be requested to take BB again for safety reasons on RO call, eg if you been DQed from the matches several times within a year for safety violations.

BB is a one time deal if you hold a membership and shoot at least 1 or 2 ipsc matches

i think you can let you membership expire for a year, but after that then you need to take the bb again or prove your ablity to a BOD or some one apointed.

No compleatly sure on that tho

It varies by section...

There is no requirement in Ontario (OP is from Ottawa) for a minimum number of sanctioned matches per year...

BP7...no time like the present. Just keep your membership current and you're good to go.

There are several clubs in the Ottawa area that are active in IPSC, including winter indoor matches at the RA centre.
