IPSC Carbine

I ordered one of the 8.5 North American Arms Carbines to plink with and to shoot the occasional 3 gun match. The gun comes with a rail, but no sights or optic. I have to make a sight selection.

I ordered a set of Magpul buis II sights for the Carbine and I am wondering if I can just call that good? My limited understanding of the rules for ipsc carbine iron sights on a rifle put you in standard class and an optic puts you into open class.

It seems like every carbine I ever see here set up for IPSC has some sort of optic on it. Is this really necessary?

Is that an 8.5" barrel? If so, you likely wont make power factor!

I shoot Standard division for IPSC Rifle, but I put a 1-4 power scope on my AR for almost all other 3 Gun events!
