IPSC Gear advice

I have a Smith & Wesson M&P 9mm Range kit and I'm looking to get into IPSC what do I need and where can I get it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Located in the Barrie Ontario
 
My wife has the same kit and used the Blade tech holster that came with it an this attachment to secure it to her belt:

The rest of her gear she got from

This includes a ghost competition belt and 5 x ghost 360 pouches.

Hopefully this gives you a starting point and an idea of what kind of equipment is out there. There are many more options and stores online that you can try. You will need 5-6 mags but some get away with 4.

There are some great brands out there like CR Speed, DA etc. if you want to hit google for those too.
 
Head on up the road to Epps and get yourself a good belt, another mag pouch and a couple more mags. No need for anything else at this stage. Get yourself on a BB course and run what you brung!
 
blade tech DOH holster, DAA belt and 5 DAA racer or racemaster pouches (decide how much you want to spend for plastic vs aluminum)

and that's about it. oh, lots of ammo as well
 
Question about IPSC shotgun matches.
Is it allowed to have 9-shot SEMI-AUTO shotgun at the match? Currently, it's plugged to allow only 5 shells. Is it LEGAL to remove the plug, travel with the shotgun to the match and shoot it at the match?
Any KNOWLEDGEABLE help will be appreciated.
 
in Canada, semiauto centerfired long guns cannot have a magazine capacity greater than 5 rounds of the round that magazine was designed for.

"...of the round that magazine was designed for." -- this is the tricky part. It was designed to hold 9. At the same time, the law says no greater than 5 are allowed. Confusing...

Here's an example.. If you have a semiauto shotgun that is chambered for 5.9 3.5" shells, it can feed a lot more 2.75" shells :cool:

The magazine may have been designed to hold 9, but the magazine can't legally be able to hold more than 5.
If the gun is designated a 3" shell chambered shotgun, your magazine cannot hold more than 5 of that shell.

So who is shooting what at IPSC shotgun matches? All pumps?

Few years ago, before ipsc sg was active in these parts, at multigun match, we were witness to 2 shooters attempting to game it with those short shells. I believe one was using a semi and the other shooter a pump. It was a utter fail.
 
um....yeah!.....2 1/2" shells are for wimps...who would use those????

Couple of years ago, most people shot a pump. Today it seems its the other way around.
With advancements in loading techniques, people are reloading the gun way faster than previous years, so playing with the semi can be fast/fun.
