Tomorrow I plan on picking up my gear for IPSC. I plan on using my Glock 17 and wanted some recommendations for Holster, Belt and Mag holders.

It sounds like Blade Tech is the best holster from what I have read. Am I better of with a leather or nylon style belt? Do the make of mag holders really matter?

I know I could have posted this in the proper forum, but I figured I'd get more response by tomorrow if I posted it here.

Visa and I thank you in advance. :D

I use CR speed gear for my Para .
I'm very happy with it .
It really sucks when during a stage you go to do a reload and no magazine is there because it bounced out . I haven't lost one yet with CR .I'll be getting another Glock and I'm definately going CR .

Sounds like you are shooting production?

If so, I'd keep it simple to start, a couple of uncle mikes double magazine holders and a regular 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" belt is enough. A good stiff duty belt or web belt are good choices, as is the 2 piece velcro ones, if you find it a pain to take gear on and off. Practice draws and mag changes until you feel the equipment is slowing you down.

Yes I will be shooting production. I want to pick up my rig so that with practice at home (safe of course) I am comfortable with it prior to my Black Badge Course.

Holster - highly recommend Sidearmor
- there are 2 kinds of Bladetech. Cheap one is ok, other one is better.
- Uncle Mikes is ok
- Fobus sucks
- I do not recommend wasting money on a race holster unless you have money to burn

Belt - highly recommend Cr Speed 2 piece velcro. very stiff and not too expensive
- duty belts are just as much or more than CR but most are not as stiff

mag pouches - recommend CR, JR, or Guga Rebas
- i don't have much experience with the kydex double magpouches (Fobus, Bladetech, Uncle Mikes, etc.) but they seem to be harder to use for "speed reloads".

If you buy good gear from the beginning you won't have to replace for a long time. I researched all this gear before I bought. Tried out as much as I could. I have been using my rig for a bunch of matches this year and have been very happy with it. Just my opinion.

Most guys at our club are using the CR belts, but the leather ones look good and don't seem to slow anyone down.

For strength it really depends, I've seen guys shoot matches with a regular leather pants belt! Sure it works, but I imagine the stiffer leather belts are just as strong as the nylon ones.

I just ordered a Blad tech with the string ray belt holster (approved for IPSC) and their quad magazine pouch.

There's a special on the Bladtech website right now - Stingray holster, double kydex mag pouch and DOH attachment for $95. I bought one, but it hasn't arrived yet so I can't attest to the quality. People seem to trust the Bladetech name so I grabbed it. Just missing a belt.

What's wrong with Fobus holsters and mag pouches? I just bought a Fobus Evolution for my G22 and I love it but would like to hear what you guys have to say.

Friends don't let friends buy Fobus.

And, as a shameless plug, if anyone needs a stiff outer belt, I've got an Uncle Mikes duty belt in OD Green, size medium (32-36), and how can you go wrong for $20 plus shipping?

Not sure if you realise you're replying to a thread that's from Sept-06 but my 2c worth is I use a Blackhawk Serpa because of the extra level of retention in paddle mode for my Sig 226 & Kimber 1911. Just use my regular 1.5" leather belt.

Can't go wrong with Blade Tech. I have a few of them and they are great.

Fobus is very unpredictable, sometimes you get a good one. My buddy got one for his Glock, could not get it out of the holster, once it was in it was not coming out. I have one for an L frame S&W and it is too tight, but i use it with a K frame and its OK.

To start on cheap side: also for training and as a backup:
- very stiff and sturdy belt;
- Uncle Mike's holster:
- Uncle Mike's mag pouches:

I ordered and got:

- Belt - CR Speed - $54
- Holster - BladeTech DOH - $66
- Mag pouches - CR Speed Versa - $32 each

Reasons:
-The belt is one of the best and the best for the money. High quality.
- Holster- the best for the money. High quality.
- Mag pouches - come with inserts that allow for any width mag, ambi, retention adjustable, angle adjustable, very versatile and high quality. Have a cutout for index finger that helps with faster mag changes.

Also, got 3 extra mags at the same time, but that delayed the package as it sat in customs for 2 weeks. Tax (no duty) on whole order was $23.
