IPSC holsters??

View attachment 106922View attachment 106923Checked the EE,couldn't find anything.
Looked around the site sponsors ,but nobody seems to have a complete kit.

Optics planet has a complete kit for $160 ish CAD.

Think this will do?
I'll pick up another double mag pouch as well.

As I said, once we do the BB,it's only going to be our club, maybe 18 people in all.
Who'll actually be competing, against each other.

Brianma65,

The CZ Shadow you've ordered from Wolverine is an excellent choice to get you started in IPSC Production division and will take you a long way in IPSC ... or 3 Gun, IDPA, USPSA, etc.

IMHO the Bladetech holster, belt and double mag pouch package + one extra double mag pouch depicted above is another excellent choice and good value decision to get you started. In addition to the three factory mags that come with yer CZ, strongly recommend you p/u three more mags. 6 mags is the minimum I like to run with .... and it's not like they go bad. Strongly suggest however you look to order the Mecgar mags as they are far superior to the factory mags that come with yer CZ. And usually cost less.

The above is all you will need to get started and compete reasonable well. This is the identical kit I started out with and it served me very well in at least 15-20 matches at which point I realized I was hooked and decided I wanted to up my game.

Since then I have acquired several different belt, holster and mag pouch rigs and moved on to the Shadow 2...but still use my initial blade tech holster and mag pouches on my 3 Gun rig ...on those occasions I decide to run with my CZ Shadow.

See to many newbies start out with race holsters and imo its a potential recipe for disaster. Just read the recent IPSC BB thread of the older gent Who got sent home from his BB course after dropping his gun while trying to reholster in his brand spanking new Ghost race holster. I currently have several different Ghost holsters, all of which I use, love and highly recommend....but not for someone just starting out and learning the game!

Thanks to everyone,for the advice.

I just want to concentrate on the BB course for now,so I'll just get the blade tec gear.

Also,I have a Glock.22 LR and bladetec holster,I can do some practice with that . Maybe?

Lots of good advice on your equipment. Whatever you choose, get it well before the black badge course. You should put at least 1000 rounds through your gun and be completely familiar with how it and all your equipment works before the course. Practice dry firing and manually decocking the Shadow. The course is all about safety and IPSC rules and not about how to operate your equipment. You will have more fun and be more successful in the course if you are 100% comfortable with your gear.

I take that back. It's not allowed during the BB course, at least in Ontario.

I'd also heard the locking type holsters were not permitted in Ontario period.

Just the other day couple RO's at a match were discussing them being verboten unless you removed the locking mechanism.

Regardless. IMO they're not a good holster choice for IPSC.

IMG_0353.jpgI've found all the items ,I think I need.
Select shooting was the only site sponsor who had everything.
I have 4 mags and will get a couple more.

As I said , this is only going to be local as the nearest match is about 700 km .

One other question though,

I would like to have the holster as low as possible,as I have long gorrila arms .. lol.
I think I ordered the correct part from select ,but I'm not sure.

Here's a pic of what I'm about to order.
What you think?

There are rules in IPSC about the heel of the butt of the handgun not being below the top of the belt, so gorilla arms or no, you can't drop the holster very much.

OK ,got it.
I've spent the last two days looking at various websites, looking at gear.
I'll start reading the rules next.

Thanks

Also, you cannot offset the handgun such that it sits more than 50mm from your torso (measured from the center of the longest dimension of the grip). Definitely read the rules over carefully - there's a lot to learn about.

I'm borderline with that 50mm thing. I was flagged by a RO for that, last match. If I lose any weight I'll have a problem with the standard Bladetech DOH bracket. I'll either need to bring out the heat gun, or most likely, just switch to the Boss setup. Or I could just eat more hamburgers. :)

No rules that say the serpa holsters cannot be used. Only rule that may be used to this effect is the one where the RM deems the equipment unsafe for use.

I don't know which province OP is in, but in Ontario they are expressly forbidden for the BB course.

NOTE: Button activated holsters (e.g. Blackhawk Serpa, and similar) are not permitted on the Black Badge Course.

I had to bring out the heat gun. Worked pretty well.
