I know that 'major nines' are prohibited in IPSC due to safety concerns. How about a 357 SIG? This is a 9 mil, but does not need to be loaded ridiculously over-pressure to make major

major nines are not prohibited in ipsc. Alot off open shooters shoot major 9 mm open guns. You can not make major in standard with a 9mm.

I'm not getting into the whole thing. But 9mm major is allowed in IPSC in "open" . Power Factor lowered to "PF 160" (in open) a few years ago.

357 Sig or 9X40 has been around for awhile. It is bigger on the west coast then the rest of Cdn. But it is a good round for IPSC.

.357 SIG is not the same as 9x40 (although they are very similar). It cannot be loaded to major for Modified or Standard Division.

IPSC rules require a minimum bullet diameter of .40 to make major in Standard or Modified.

I believe the only place that ever prohibited 9 major was the USA, as it has been used widely in Europe and everywhere else really besides North America since I don't know when; especially popular for the shooters using CZ and Tanfoglio.

Are you talking about using a 9mm para to make major? What a bout a 9-23?

Yes...

9/23 or 9/21 sort of defeats the purpose because the brass is as expensive as 38 Super...

The 9/19 is becomeing popular in the US, and has started catching on in other places, Canada Included.

Cheers

Major 9 refers to loading the 9mm para to major specs. 9x23, 9x21 and the various flavours of .38 super are different.

9mm major is now allowed in the US again, by the way.

Yes 9x19 make major in Open IPSC gun....not for the regular pistol.....

I have one and it's a good bang! Minimum PF IS 160 I load at 168-170PF (PF is bullet weight x FPS divided by 1000) for me it mean 124 gr bullets and a little over 1350 FPS.....
