Hi guys,

I just got an email from the vex.net admins that someone maliciously broke in and wiped out their system overnight, taking down ALL of the websites and user directories which they had on there. This means that ipsc-matches.net is down.

They will be looking to restore from backups... I have a database backup (i.e. all the match signups, etc) from 7am yesterday (Fri) morning, so if they don't have anything newer, at least we'll be able to get up and running as of that time...

I don't know what changes they'll implement as the result of this, I don't know how quickly they can restore the system(s), so at this point in time, I don't know what the back up ETA is. Say by the end of the weekend?

I'll keep you up to date here, as things develop...

Thanks

Damian

This is making me think that keeping the system on vex, in light of this and other recent problems, might not be a long term viable option... I was happy to put up with infrequent little hichups in exchange for a very reasonable cost. Not, the hickups are getting more and more severe and frequent, and now this is more than a hickup...

I'll need to think about my option for the next little while, anywhere I move the system, I'll need to migrate it another language, most likely, which will mean another period of bug chasing and fixing... We'll see...

Thanks

Lol...you assume we are tech saavy enough to accomplish that! Unless they find out it was a power bar that was unplugged, I doubt it would have been me...

Actually we've only just mastered the telegraph, we are slowly working up to these new fangled telemephones. Though I predict that one day Bell is going to make a fortune with them..

And just think, if we were having another match it would be the only one you could still sign up for!

I wonder if i can sign up for the next sharon match in morse code?

That was the telegraph joke I made a few lines up ^^^
(these new fangled web guys don't know what the name of the devices that we use to transmit morse...lol)

I'll warn you if I'm going to make a semaphore joke (thats with flags, not the progamming type) before the next sign up...lol

Pat, that's because your jokes are older then you. Come on, come up with something modern. Last time I've checked it is not 1836 anymore....
