Love it or hate it, the mini targets have arrived. the level 1 match at Barrie on Feb 06 was the first time i encountered them and i personally don't like the mini targets.

I shot them at the Montreal Indoor Challenge match and apparently I am more accurate on them. Though they were put only 10y away.

I went from shooting them well at the AMA match,.to three weeks later shooting them terribly at the MIC. They are fishy like that LOL.

My son and myself talked about them also. Only thing I didn't like there was one that was half coloured. It played tricks with my mind. Also if it were set out 20 - 30m that could prove interesting for accuracy.. Personally we both like them, more the challenge more the fun..

The match director at Barrie Loves these targets and thinks that the March match may only use these mini targets!
They may be accompanied by a lot of penalty and blackened targets!
At least he provides you with food, coffee and drink after the match.

Maybe the match director better add theraphy to the list.
The use of hard cover in the match was a nice touch.

It was never intended to change IPSC matches into bullseye competitions.

Putting more than one or two at 30m in a minimum 100 round match is wrong.

D in DVC gotta stand for something.

I think one problem with these targets is that they wear out faster, and when patched lines become harder to see.
Now putting these targets at 30 m would solve this problem :)

They should've put limitations in place when they approved the mini targets.

I think I could get away with a L3 Match with these targets in an indoor range.
Do you think I can get an approval by March?

Mini Targets

What's next, mini targets on a swinger target or how about a mini drop turner, yes I can hear the crying already, the Barrie people are crazy, lol.

Are you implying that there is no As in DVC? :D

Of course there are! D is for "Double-A" :)

I think there is nothing wrong with presenting a good challenge for accuracy on some stages. Mini-target at 30m is tough, but nothing impossible. After all, variety of challenges in matches is encouraged.

The mini target is meant to allow match directors that only have small ranges to put on interesting matches.

i agree with Sean here ... far to many times match directors and designers for club or level 1 matches try way to hard to mess up the shooter instead of challenge us on the principles of our sport

What exactly "principles of our sport" then?
I always thought accuracy is at least 1/3 of it.

And I don't mean of course that all targets should be like that, for smaller match couple of such challenging targets would be quite enough.

Perhaps they should have waited to introduce these targets till after the next new rule book came out?? In it they could have gave guide lines for using them.Already people are saying you shouldn't do this or that with them , but nothing in writing, just more reason for people to ##### about stages. Mixing them in stages would make sence for challenging the shooter , but is a no-no. The more targets we get to use the better, personally still like the metric best, and the mini metric from England for 22 is a hoot.
