IPSC multiple division question

OK, I haven't shot in any matches yet but I'm looking forward to joining the fun early in the new year.

However I find that I've been lured by the wiles of both pistols and revolvers and would like to use BOTH in IPSC. Reading through the rules book I find that I can only be scored for one division at a time but with approval of the match director I COULD shoot in both Production and Revolver.

So the questions are....

A- How often do they allow folks to shoot in more than one division? I assume it's based on the list of competitors and available time? Or is it quite common to allow folks to shoot more than one division with the second being just for giggles and interpersonal competition without scoring?

B-If you do get to shoot a second division and it's non scored then do they at least score it for your benifit and so you can see how you did in the scoring even if it doesn't count toward series points?

C-At what point do I have to make up my mind on which Division I'm shooting in if I've got both a revolver and a pistol at the meet and I'm just waiting to see if any other revolver guys show up? Notice that from my looking at the Production results list it's not an issue of "if" any of them show up....

Looking at the BC IPSC results for the season so far I only see one revolver shooter and he didn't even show up to all the events so far.

For that matter can any of you shooting in IPSC in the lower mainland tell me just how many revolver guys show up and how often?

Perspiring minds need to know.... Trust me, if you saw how my head sweats in the heat of summer this last line is pretty accurate....

From my experience, there won't be the opportunity to shoot multiple Divisions at matches in BC (or Alberta for that matter).

However, depending on the revolver (ie: one from the approved list with a bbl of 5" or less), you can shoot it in Production Division.

In fact, I'm planning on shooting my S&W Model 66 (4" bbl) in IPSC Production Division in BC next year. I definitely won't win but I'm willing to bet that I won't come in last either....

Keep in mind that it has been opined that shooting a revolver in IPSC is a lot like masturbation; quite fun to do but not so much fun to watch

Yee ha. More revolver shooters in BC, please!

I shot my first club match two weeks ago with a 6" Ruger GP100. I don't care how it looked to anyone else. Hot damn, it was fun.

And isn't it about how much fun the SHOOTER is having that is important?

Sounds like I'll likely show up with both and then if/when I'm the only one there with a revolver I'd just switch to the Shadow and "blend in".

I'm not under any delusions of winning any marbles at this activity. It's more about a chance to shoot in a setting that adds in other aspects than JUST shooting. Fun is high on the shopping list and when I shot my first box of ammo through a revolver last weekend the grins were hard to wipe away. And since I don't really care that much about the points issue if I have a revolver and pistol that both fit into Production then I'd just use whichever looks like the most fun that day. If a few other revolver guys show up then I'd shoot revolver along wtih them and it's us against the herd....

We have a few revolver shooters that shoot and a few more that would shoot but don't want to be the only revolver shooter there. If thay would all show up at the same match there will be 9 or 10. If you look at IPSCBC results for Q 1 & 2 in open, Roy B was shooting an 8-shot revolver with a red dot and comp. Even beat a few semi-autos
