Ok, new to IPSC and having trouble finding the info I need. I have taken the black badge course, now I am on my way to shoot my 1st match.

All I have to use at present is a standard 1911 and a bunch of 7 round mags. My objective right now is to shoot a clean qualifying match, then a new pistol is on the horizon. I don't intend or expect to be competitive, just getting started. I know having 7 round mags is a disadvantage.

From what I recall no course of fire can require more than 32 rounds, is this correct? If I am correct I am ok with the 6 7 round mags that I currently have. 1 would be a stripper and that gives me 5 full ones.

I plan on shooting at waterloo on the 12th and I believe that it is a level 2, if that is relevant.

You are restricted to what will fit in the standard box. 8 in a .45, 9 in a .40 and 10 in a 9mm/.38 super. If the Single Stack rules are adopted as they currently exist in the USPSA it will limit you to 8 rounds if you shoot major (.45 or .40) or 10 rounds if you shoot minor (9mm/.38 Super) in a 1911. And it will still have to fit in the box....probably the weight requirement too (43 oz I believe)

Thanks for the tips gents, especially the bit about the match being cancelled!

I have looked on the IPSC ontario website as well as IPSC Canada. I have yet to locate a calendar or schedule of matches. Where can I find this? Surprised to find that I have to dig for this information.

Limited is still 10 rounds. On single stack mags, a charge or stripper mag in the back pocket works fine, then 7 more (just in case you half eject or drop one during a stage)

On my DStack 10 rounders on the Tango Limited, I run 6 match mags and a charge mag in my back pocket at all times.

I was messing around once, and ended up needing my 'charge' mag to finish a stage.

Close call.
