I just heard Shaw TV would be featuring a bit on IPSC.

The show would be part of "The Express" shown 6, 8 and 10pm

This would be on Channel 4 - Shaw TV Greater Vancouver (Lower Mainland)

Set up you VCR and enjoy !

I passed on what I heard and just didnt want to have anybody miss it.

I had no idea what was on until I saw it at 6 pm.

It does not scream IPSC but is still a good feature.

For somebody uninformed, it did a good job of "tickling" their interest.

I have seen another show one with two of our IPSC BC members on a chinese show talking about firearms in general and focused on IPSC in one segment.

Kudos for bringing our sport to the media.

We all benefit from this.

Now if only we could get them to cover our competitions across the country......

I sometimes wonder what kind of stage would do the best job of tickling the interest of people who are non-shooters, without horrifying them about the apparent "combat" style of the sport.

The last thing I want the public to see are some of the 3 yard hoser field courses which seem to be oh-so-popular at the local level.

Some of the 12-15 yard short courses with mixed steel and paper would be good, but don't have the movement that makes IPSC fun.

I guess in the end, it's a toss up between public relations and generating interest.

There is nothing "combat" about IPSC,it is a game and nothing else. The 3 yd hoser courses are an aspect of IPSC same as the steel and longer range courses, the best thing we can do is to accurately represent the sport and all of it's aspects. It is best not to worry about waht someone else thinks but show the sport as it truely is.

You can downplay the origins of the sport as much as you want to, Reaper. I agree that IPSC has nothing to do with combat. I'm talking about the "perceptions of the uneducated masses" as opposed to reality. Perception is reality.

I spent years playing Paintball trying to tell people that they weren't "Wargames". Joe Schmuck on the street sees it differently.

The 3 yard hoser courses are one of my biggest complaints about the state of IPSC right now - they're dummied down courses of fire for those people that don't know how to shoot. They should not be representative of what goes on at an IPSC match. They should be a novelty, and a rare one at that.

As far as I'm concerned, if you can double tap a target and get 2 hits, the course of fire is far too easy. I'd like to see a little bit of challenge added back to IPSC, and I'd like the public to see a little bit of challenge in our shooting. It would add a little bit more legitimacy to our claims that IPSC is a sport, rather than a hobby.

Once again the "Beagle" has said it better than most of us can think it.

Not that i mind the odd "Hozer" stage

But, none the less, "Beagle" hit the nail right on the head!

hungrybeagle, thanks for uploading that! I don't normally watch Shaw cable 4.

It's cool that I know both of the stars of the show! :) Good job Tracey and Murrey! Put a good light on gun owners.

That really was a good little advertisement for the sports. I'm glad they did it with Tracey so it doesn't look like some sport just for guys. Even if it is 95% guys. Maybe more women will check into join IPSC now. Single ladies...

The last Shaw clip I saw was from the IPSC match in Nanaimo last year. I think this one was a bit better showing practice instead of just the competition.

Good job Shaw TV!
