IPSC Ont Classification system - decided now, life can go on again

I thought it would be impossible to shoot a level 3 without working for a day? If you make level 3s mandatory, can you increase the match fee or have an option where you pay to have somebody patch the following day?

working is optional...except at the nationals

yeah if there were more level 3 it would be nice. Was sort of suprised that Drama Daze last year wasnt a level 3, as it was a good big match.

Shhhhhhhhh

Quiet!! We are trying to stay under the radar.... The paperwork required for a L3 has some of us intimidated!!:runaway: :runaway:

Can't say I am happy. Geography will cause this sport to be GTA - Ottawa corridor favour thing again. Last year, I am told the nearest Ontario Level 3 to Thunder Bay was 15 hrs Drive. In Windsor it was 4 hrs. Yes it is wonderful to say host a match but not all clubs have the resources. People with ability and time and Range space are starting to be at premium. Very well maybe time for me to start thinking about get my Form 6 Renewed.

match every Sunday in Michigan..... All within 1.5hrs away... I like the cash prizes at DSC for winning class too... Do they still do that?? Livingston will be doing thier special classifier in April so you can get classed then....

Will Quebec Provincials be a Level III classifier?

Will they allow the Quebec Provincials to be allowed as a Level III for Ontario classifications?? This would probably help alot of shooters who don't make it to the Ontario Provincials.

Will there be an update in the next SITREP on how the new system works?

How the exact breakdown works...
How many ICS stages you need to work this in to your classifier....
How many shooters, GM's and M's you need in a division in a Level II to count towards your total 'points'.
I've asked around and no one seems to know the exact details.

Quigley? Help?

The Quebec provincials are in Ontario...so yes they will count...

The Breakdown is

40% - Level 2's
40% - Level 3 )your best in past 12 months)
20% - ICS

ICS STages are calculated by the WInMss team...and it's the best 4 of your previous 8 ICS stages submitted.

We're meeting tomorrow to ink out a few additional details...but everything in this post has been emailed to the members (at least 3 times)

There may be a few minor details to work out...but all current members should know what's going on...

Cheers

Thanks Quigley...I just paid my fees at the last match so I got dropped off the email list. I was aware of the general breakdown, but I guess it was the ICS stuff that really had me confused.

I'm not sure if I have to register an alias for the ICS stages (I guess I should for the Nationals...) I'll wait for the emails/SITREP to find out about the Alias registration....

So are you saying that if we shoot ICS classifiers for an Ontario ranking system we would still have to register an alias on the world classification system as well, even though I or we would not be shooting the nationals??

yeah doesnt sound like a good system. I would be just happy shooting level 2s and stuff. You have to pay extra money to shoot ICS right? ICS is only for nationals right?

One would think that the cost would be in the match fee and the match organizers would be paying the bill. If I remember ICS is $1 USD per stage.

so, what's the deal here ?

we have to submit ourselves to ics even if we plan to do Level 1 matches only.........

No only for classifications. If all you plan on doing is shooting level I's you wouldn't have been classified even under the old system.

Thanks again for the help Quigley!!

I just registered my Alias. I feel like a spy:eek:

I'll pass word around to other 'new' shooters in Eastern Ontario that the Quebec Provincials will count as a Level III. This should help alot of people out.... and it is a great match:D

Q

The 20% ICS - Is that of your Regional or World ranking? or just the 4 of whichever you submit, so it has nothing to do with your actual ICS standing, just submitted ICS stages?

What happens if after all the calculations, there are no GM's in a particular division? Do we not still need GM's to validate our L2's or L3's?

The Regional ICS Standing...

Regarding the Level 2's...we're finalizing that tonight (Board Meeting)

Not to worry...we'll still have plenty of Classifiers in Ontario...just no more soft ones

Cheers
