I have the least amount of time with IPSC compared to the other 7 nominees and when Simar asked me to run I told him I was too new. He said he wished he ran when he was more green so I thought about it and here we are. (this is part of my bio I already sent in so if I missed something and this bumps me out, sorry to all my loyal voters. :D)

I think we need people on the board who can relate to all the IPSC shooters, not just the elite.

I think people who have met me know I have a smile on my face most of the time and can deal with Eugene without causing too much of an issue if we are on the board together. Honestly though I don't see myself getting enough votes to get on the board. H@ll after this thread I will probably be kicked off being in the running anyway.

You guys aren't doing yourselves any favours by posting here.
If you actually have any real intention of running for the board, ranting in public isn't going to win over anyone.

I would think people would like to elect mature candidates with a vision for IPSC Ontario.
I assume that the bios will outline you and your general ideas.
The way the original thread on the Ontario forum was positioned, it basically asked for the bios to be regurgitated online, prior to the official mailing.
See no issue with that one being locked.
There is another thread for the sharing of ideas for the future.

Not sure why everything has to constantly become a giant pissing match.

To be fair Chris, I encouraged a lot of people to run. I did this so that the IPSC Ontario membership would have choices to make in the coming election. Some of the folks I encouraged did decide to run, many didn't, I am happy you decided to run and I am grateful that you are willing to volunteer! And to be honest and fair, I also encouraged Eugene to run, he has done a lot for IPSC Ontario and I am very grateful to him for all his work and look forward to working with him in the future, regardless of the election, to improve member services. We need new ideas, fresh perspectives, and people genuinely interested in working towards a common goal regardless of our personal differences. I look forward to working with the new BoD to improve the services we offer to our membership.
 
Probably not going to win anyone over, chances are you are right this will hurt and chances of election for those who post here. But you have to see how someone running for the board locking a thread asking questions of the members running against him and then the resulting post calling that into question being deleted is a major issue. There is nothing in the election rules, the constitution or the forum rules that says you can't ask this of the candidates before the election. As I stated earlier, how happy would you be if your Provincial or national gov't told you not to ask questions on the bio or platform of your local candidates prior to an election? Silencing people running for an election is never a good course of action.

You know me Chris, not much bothers me and I usually am all jokes. Bit under the weather I guess.

I can see there being disagreement about how it happened, but I don't see an issue with why. Just my opinion though.
If you are serious about making an honest run for the board, these posts won't help you.
I guess follow the example of the candidate on the Ontario forum who starts threads, pretty much on a daily basis, asking dumb questions like , "What was your favourite match" and "what's your favourite colour".

You think he actually gives a shlt?
He's just getting his name out there for election time.

I understand. We all have our own opinions based on different experiences and I respect yours. May I ask what your opinion is on allowing a nominee to respond to a question regarding all nominees while locking the rest out and still leaving the thread up? Then a thread questioning this is deleted? Sorry, to me it's wrong and may seem superficial to you and others. Like I said we all have our own opinions. Pat came here as he had no voice on the IPSC forum.

Pat, I agree that people need to be informed.
But I don't know how you can ask questions on people bio when the bio isn't even out yet.
If people are still crafting their bios and they haven't been released, having discussions will only help those candidates write what people seem to want to hear, and give people without access or who don't frequent online forums a false sense of what that candidate has to offer.
There is time for discussion, and there is another thread where people are discussing their ideas on future plans for IPSC ON.

I'm not as experienced as others in this process, but typically a debate has all candidates present to give their ideas and counter the arguments of others.
If only a few candidates have the flexibility of being online at all hours of the day, how is that fair to the others.

Just my opinion.

That's not fair, I've known that candidate for a long time. He is a Range master, an RO/CRO instructor and has been involved in working, volunteering and supporting IPSC clubs and matches pretty much since he started. He may be posting to draw attention or he maybe genuinely interested in asking some feel good questions (what could possibly be wrong with that, it's not dumb, it's a nice change) but you absolutely cannot say he is not interested or doesn't give a ####. He probably gives more of a #### than most of us and has the work record to back it up.

Damn...you are really letting it all out today. I disagree with your comment about the candidate asking dumb questions.

Here is how I am looking at it. I know a ton of people who agree with me. I am being honest and laying my cards on the table. This thread won't change those people's opinions, if it changes others, well I screwed up. If it doesn't go my way, I will still do whatever I can to help. You have seen my passion for this sport. It will always be there regardless of any imminent train wreck that may be about to happen.

Like I said, from what was left as threads/posts, I don't necessarily agree with how it was done, but agree that thread shouldn't progress.

Anyway, I'm not really adding anything constructive so maybe Quigley can come back and get the pot stirring back on track!!!

I will not be able to comment on a matter that is being brought to the BoD until after the next BoD meeting in late November.

I have nothing personal against him and actually think he is a huge contribution to the sport.
That's 100% truth.

Brought that up as an illustration of another tactic to use vs some exhibited in this thread.

The bio to be sent out with the ballot is basically the bare minimum requirement to get your name out there. If a candidate is only interested in doing the bare minimum I'd question their seriousness in running for the board....
We have a forum for communicating with the membership, again, if someone is running for the board and is not answering members questions on the forum then they are not interested in communicating with the members....gotta question their seriousness...
I also have more faith in our members than believing that they will vote for the first one to post and not wait until everyone has explained their position. I personally don't care if they post at 9am or 9pm when they can get to a computer. I want to know what they have to say.
