IPSC Oversight

100% correct, this is why I walked away from IPSC many years ago, and this BS still goes on here in Ontario.

Have to say it, you should just keeping shooting in IPSC. Why walk away?
That never made any sense to me,..I enjoy shooting. I don't always agree with what is going on,..but then I am in it to shoot. I like to socialize with like minded shooters...and enjoy the humor and razzing.

There you go Mo, fixed it for you.
:dancingbanana:

:p

I saw that...I posted too quick and made some corrections.

I find it annoying or dissapointing to hear people say they got fed up with the way IPSC was going,...too "racy",....too much politics,..etc... How about just getting to the shooting (to semi-quote Brian Enos)

Good attitude Mo! I take a similar view in that; unless I am prepared to step up and run for a position on the board, and then if elected work from within to change those things in IPSC with which I may not agree (and for right now I'm not), I feel that beyond perhaps offering an opinion when appropriate I should just keep my big trap shut. Mostly that is because bickering about something I can't change just uses up too much energy.

Bottom line: as long as I'm out pulling the trigger and having a blast with my friends then life is good in my universe. All else is secondary to me.

= path of least resistance is my direction..;)
We stress ourselves over things we can not change,...or are unwilling to put the time, effort, into changing. Life is WAY to short to sweat the small stuff; got to have fun. I want to help out though, so getting my RO finally, and eventually helping with enough BB courses will be my contribution.

Im just asking a question as I keep seeing people posting about Bud and not shooting. I dont have an axe to grind against Bud... just wondering why people keep bringing it up.. The only thing I didnt like was that I didnt get a ballot for the elections..but then again I would probably have voted for the same people anyways so I suppose it doesnt matter.

I dont get why people get so upset when people ask basic questions? I understand that those voluteering are using up their time and it should be greatly appreciated...but does volunteering mean you get a free pass on discussion concerning the group?

As long as nobody is being nasty to the volunteers than doesnt free discussion just end up bringining up good ideas that ultimately benefit the sport?

I found all the problems and issues myself and a group of new shooters faced when we were looking at joining at 2 clubs we belonged to, it was rediculous the way we were treated and the way the league behaved, I do not care what anybody says, never again it left such a bad taste in my mouth. I attempted to join at 2 diffeent clubs I belonged to and I have never met a more iggnorant group of shooters in my life. I am very happy shooting CDP and PPC, IPSC will not ever be on the cards for me.

:agree: Not around here it doesn't.

Sure, I guess. Probably more like "timing is everything."

I got involved on a club B.O.D. level for a while a few years back and it tended to (severely) limit my ability to compete. It may not be that way for everyone, but it was for me. I am not yet ready to make that kind of sacrifice, but one day perhaps....

While I don't always agree with everything that is done in the world of IPSC or IPSC Ontario, I realize that you can't please everyone and I deeply appreciate the efforts of those who step up and do it. It ain't a perfect system but nothing ever is. It'll get better as we grow, I'm sure.

Sadly, you may have met the wrong people, and made a call based on that. There really are great people shooting this sport, and you owe it to yourself to investigate a little further. The friends you'll make will overshadow the shooting part any day, even if it is the most competitive and highest level of handgun competition anywhere. (no bias here...)

that's too bad. My experience was the exact opposite of yours.. IPSC guys are generally easy going and good to joke around with, very helpfull. They guys who put on matches and organize put in a lot of hours.

The only guys who shot PPC around here were police and some guys from work. Not a bad bunch, but they don't show up anymore,...I guess some Ego's couldn't handle an IPSC shooter beating a PPC Grandmaster in a local Peace officers match (it was a PPC/IPSC/Action pistol style match BTW)......after my second year of shooting IPSC..

I guess we make develop our opinions after experiences. My experiences with IPSC over the last 4 years have been for the most part,..great. Never had so much fun at the range.:shotgun:

Nope, not for me, I am happy with CDP and PPC.

Yup, I totally agree. I've been in IPSC now for about 23-ish years, and I've made friends who I would consider to be almost extended family. There are people in every group who don't play well with others and IPSC is no exception, but for the most part it's been the people in IPSC more than anything else that have kept me in it. We all debate various topics ad-nauseum because most of us are fairly conservative in our politics and that is what conservatives do...we squabble, but most of these people would give you the shirts off their backs if you needed it, no hesitation.

It's too bad you had a crappy experience by running up against a li=lousy ambassador/s for the sport, but I do not believe it is indicative of the cross-section of IPSC people at all. If I did, I would play golf instead.

So I guess I should not ever try out CDP then..........afterall I am one of those Icky IPSCers..

That is up to you Storm, you make that choice for yourself as I did with IPSC, also, I did not say you, only the shooters I met and the 2 said clubs that I belonged to and for me shooting at my club is the only option, I do not travel due to my personal time adn other obligations I have. Now that being said, when I teach a CDP course and I have taught 7 so far also when I teach the club safety course which I cannot even remember how many I have taught, I encourage the new shooters to try all diciplines, so this is for me only. We all have experiences that leave a bad taste in our mouths and for me it was IPSC. About you being an Icky IPSCer, I have never met you, but then again I might be the Icky CDPer or PPCer, to each his own right. Never would I purposely try to turn a new shooter off of a certain shooting sport. But just so you know, if you are ever up this way, you are more then welcome to attend a CDP shoot as are all IPSC shooters.

that's mighty nice invitation... and if we've been away from IPSC for 4yrs or more do we need to take a BB Type course before we experience the fun CDP offers??

Our rules are simple, if you are holster qualified in one of the CFO approved diciplines you are welcome. Besides, what does that have to do with anything I have said?

nothing other than asking if there are additional qualifications required. glad to know there is another discipline out there for the cast outs of IPSC
