IPSC Production choices

On that same note, I do okish with my Shadow, but it in no way makes me an awesome shooter. The "arms race" only counts if you're good enough to make full use of it!

I saw a lot of shooters using the tanfoglio stock3 in 9mm this past weekend. All their guns worked 100% (I was doing a lot of RO'ing), and they all complimented on how comfortable they were... Plus they were damn accurate.

CZ's are popular, dare I say dominate Production for the reasons stated. The major reason though is not the parts but the Production rule that requires a first double action trigger pull of 5#'s. Once the first round is fired the gun reverts to a very low 2.5# - 3# SA trigger pull while the striker fired guns remain at +5#s. Advantage DA/SA guns.

Had the rule been changed to 4#s you might have seen a slow increase of striker fired pistols such as the Glock and M&P into the Division.

As a matter of interest the IDPA Stock Service Pistol Division, a close image of the IPSC Production Division does not have a minimum trigger pull requirement and there were, I believe, 4 CZ guns at the World Shoot last September. The majority of the guns in SSP Division were Glocks and M&P platforms. USPSA Production, in the absence of a trigger pull requirement is not dominated by the CZ design either.

The rules of the game do impact on what guns shooters gravitate to.

Take Care

I like the look of the CZ shadow & it feels on in the hand my problem is the trigger is to far out, I have short fat fingers & I have a hard time reaching the trigger. Does CZ made a trigger with a shorter stroke / pull trigger?

Try one with the thin aluminum grips. Makes a world of difference.

+1. My friend switched from P226 to Stock3 just over a month ago. He's a very good shot but you could see an instant improvement. I'm sure a 5" slide is helpful, among other things.

the stock/stock 2/ stock3 with aluminum grips is a short reach to trigger in DA.

I have an HK P30L LEM set up for IPSC. Nice gun but I don't find it any better for me than an M&P or Glock which i'm equally proficient with and which also cost about half as much in every way. I'd go with a used M&P or Glock or if you prefer metal than a CZ in some variety. If you want to spend the money and have something a little different (but not better) than go HK.
