IPSC Production division equipment

unless the rules have changed, Uncle Mike's is not legal for IDPA.

from the IDPA web site: Probably one of the most popular pouch style holsters is the
current variation of the Uncle Mikes Kydex holster which is NOT
suitable for concealed carry or IDPA competition due to its offset
backpiece, which results in excessive offset from the belt/body.

More and more people are going to the Bladetech DOH in PD and SD because it really allows you to hammer into the gun on the draw. Race holsters don't, although the new DAA looks promising.
I'd rather spend the money these days on better mag pouches. I like my Guga stuff but I think there is still something missing in this segment of the market. I've tried them all, and none is perfect, yet.

On top of not being legal in IDPA, Uncle Mikes stuff is #### too...just like the fobus.d:h:

Even if you buy Bladetech to start and decide gardening is more your speed, you can recover some of the money you spent on the gear by selling it second hand.

DON'T BUY into the 'get the cheap stuff until you figure it out' line.
No one who knows anything about holsters or gear is going to buy it, never mind second hand - you'll end up giving it away....which makes the Bladetech cheaper in the long run.;)

I just signed up for the IPSC black badge course. It is 4 weeks from now.
I will be using my Glock 17 Gen 4.
I heard that i need at least four mags. since it already comes with 3, i will buy another one to have the four i need.
What holster, belt and mag holders do you recommend?

Thanks!!

Hi mardig88, can you tell me at wath club will you be taking this course? I was looking for one in the Montreal region, thank's

What he said. Take a look at what is legal for IDPA in the way of mag holders if you are going to consider both sports. You won't lose any time initially by going with IDPA legal mag holders shooting IPSC and your equipment will be legal in both sports.

Bladetech for both holster and mag holders. A 1.75" Wilderness belt will serve you well in both sports and you will be good to go. Aside from a VG holster a decent belt will serve you well.

You should get at least one more mag. I truth, I'd count on having 6. Four on the belt, one in the gun, and one rooney mag in the back pocket.

As for a holster, for the course just get a simple Uncle Mikes or Bladetech DOH. For a belt, I use Shooters Gear, but any 2 part belt will work fine.

Of course you would never actually have a mag in the gun as you were preparing to take your place to shoot at a match....right?

I like Blackhawk Serpa level II holsters and Blackhawk mag holders

A competition belt such as CR Spreed or DAA is way better than Wilderness, unless you want to take your holster and pouches on and off all the time, trust me. Been there, done that.

Yes except double belts are not allowed in IDPA. I use a paddle holster for the on/off routine.

For my Shadow, I got an AA belt from the IPSC store, and IDPA kit from Blade-Tech (holster and double mag pouch), along with an extra double mag pouch and a DOH (Drop offset holster) adapter. If you're paying the shipping anyway, get it all at once.

I love the Blade-tech holster, but the mag pouches, I think, take up too much "real estate". With the first pouch just behind my left hip-bone, the sixth pouch is almost at my spine! You can get mag systems that will pack more densely.

Mind you, when you are ready to run through a Course of Fire, and they give you the "LOAD", you'll want to grab Mag 6 anyway, when speed and coordination isn't an issue (there is no time limit on the LOAD, so take your time - everything careful and thought out) When actually on the move, under timer, you'd grab from 1, 2, 3, 4, and very rarely 5. Since IPSC requires four mags, most stages are build under 40 rounds. The extra mags allow you to better plan mag changes - I swap mags almost everytime I move from one spot to another.

Doesn't the drop and offset of the blade tech make it illegal for idpa? or can you remove that part?

The dropped and offset holster is illegal but with the Bladetach you can swap the back attachment to bring the holster up and in for IDPA.

sulsa Bladetach also makes single mag pouches that can be spaced better for IPSC.

IPSC stages have a 32 round maximum.

4 mags on your belt are plenty. Barney mag and 1 full mag in your pocket and you are good to go.

I've seen stages when you have to reload after every 6 rounds, assuming you didn't miss anything. So, if you want to go a full speed on those, you really need 5 mags on your belt.

Of course you would never actually have a mag in the gun as you were preparing to take your place to shoot at a match....right?

When I walk up to the line at most matches, I've got four mags behind my left hip, and two behind my right (I'm ambi so might as well have a few mags where they might be needed). In my back pocket are two mags, one to start the match with and the second the stripper mag I'll use to load the chamber.
