IPSC Production Glock vs Ruger

I plan to do my black badge soon and have decided on production to shoot in.
Which would be better to shoot Glock 17 or Ruger SR9? Any benefit to either?
 
I would choose the glock , i own both firearms, the rugar has a messed up safety, its not really practical for IPSC i don't think, and really i don't think i have seen any one run it in a match yet.

you will see more glocks in IPSC then the rugar since it is a popular gun, strange enough i find the rugar a little more snappy, i think this may be the the grip is forward a little bit further compared to the glock.

But not to say that some one might do good with the rugar. i just know that i don't think i would like to use it.

my preference and my thoughts.
 
If you have a ruger shoot a ruger, and if you have a glock then shoot a glock. If you have both then you probably should shoot the glock, there are far more people shooting it then a ruger. If you have neither then you should reframe your question to something like I have about 600$ to spend what would be the best ipsc production gun in this price range.?
 
Also consider the availability of parts, and accesories. Glock wins hands down in that department, and I have doubled my practice time in the last couple range trips, doing draws and reloads since buying my Advantage Arms kit a few weeks ago.

The AA kit is a great tool for this, and after a little fiddling it is running great even on cheap bulk Blazer.

I would recommend it to anyone, and especially anyone on a budget like me!

Don't know what the AA kit is or does, but is the op going to be legal for production div in IPSC?

G17 or SR9 are both good to go.

Sr9 has a mag safety which makes it a bit of a hassle to clear the gun and decock though.

The AA kit is a 22 coversion top end for the G17 and works pretty damn well. Allows me to put alot more rounds downrange with the same holster, trigger, grip, etc. I am loving it.

I also own a Ruger 22/45 so I can shoot for a couple hours for $20! :D

OP. I have owned the SR9 and the G17(twice now) and I can tell you that no doubt the G17 is better suited for IPSC and the other run and gun stuff. Just way more options and reliability is never an issue.

That said there is plenty of reasons to by an SR9 and it is really really comfortable in my hands.

One other big factor is which gun points better?

Grip the gun right first off. This is not necessarily going to be the same as you do now but I dont know if you have ever really learned a proper grip. There are several youtube videos on the topic anyhow. So grip the gun and practice just pointing at objects from 5 to 20 meters away without using the sights. Hold tge gun on your intended target and see where the gun is pointing.

I have tried a bunch of guns inckuding the SR9 Sig Cz etc. None of them pointed as well as my Glock. This will differ for some but many agree that despite the initial wtf feel of a Glock the design and grip angle just work.
