IPSC production rule changes.

Yeah there is a separate division for optics and now optics light

But I read something about them allowing the milling of slides to mount the optic.
Previously you had to use a mounting plate in the dovetail

I'm wondering if the shadow 2 carry optics gun is even needed now if milling is allowed

Considering it's the same price I would say yes. If I wanted a Shadow 2 for PO I'd prefer it to come milled from the factory then buy a Shadow 2 and pay somebody $200 to kill the slide for me.

Many are saying that having the optic mounted directly to a milled slide without the use of the adapter plate setup increases the reliability of both the gun and the optic.

I'm pretty happy about the rule changes. I'm a classic shooter right now because I could never get around the two weights of trigger pulls. I will happily be buying a striker fire with a 3.5lb pull to match my 1911. I do believe the Springfield XD has the same grip angle that I'm used to. Or maybe the P320 X5, or maybe a Glock or a M&P, the Walther looks cool (they pay for practiscore to be free).
I'm happy that I can tinker a little. The new rule changes are a good thing.

Just make sure you don't get an optic with a bottom load battery if you are mounting directly on the slide...Slide heats up enough to melt the glue holding the battery connectors...*cough cough* vortex viper *cough cough*...Lifetime warranty is great but tanking the last 2 stages of an 8 stage match due to intermittent optic failure is not.

That said, these are really good changes IMO. Looking forward to some PCC action too.

So what is the latest ruling on "production optic"? Are they allowing milling a production gun to put on an optic now? I thought there was a proposal to allow this but not sure it is something finally agreed on.

As per the other thread with more of the rule changes, milling will be allowed, but none of the rules will come into affect until Jan 1st
