IPSC Range Officers officiating with holstered firearms.

Once you have witnessed a shooter duct taping a garbage bag onto their arm to go retrieve part of their kit from an outhouse, you will take the time to ditch your gun in a safety area or bag it.

Printed on the Ontario ATT...

"Firearms may only be loaded and/or CARRIED ON YOUR PERSON while you are ACTIVELY ENGAGED in target practice or a target shooting competition.."

I suppose it's possible someone could interpret this to mean that unless you're actually shooting the match you shouldn't be carrying a gun.

Sounds like a club thing

Maybe a rule of thumb ? It's something taught to be since beginning of my IPSC time, I think more about the situation, as some clubs safety table is far from where most are hanging out, and the potty is no where near there either, so leaving your gun unattended there, is really not best idea.
