IPSC Revolver Division

Many many years ago I used to shoot a revolver against shooters with 45acp 1911. I would be willing to do that again if they would allow revolvers in Classic division.

929's and 627's with 8 round moon clips will make a big difference. Reloads should be at least half of that time and reduce the number of reloads per stage. Moving like a scalded slug is still my problem lol

Nah, 5 second reloads with a speedloader times 5 is 25 seconds. Add that to moving at the speed of a scalded slug...well you get the idea. :>)

Yes, I've got the idea that if you'd practice some and learn how to load in 2..2.5 seconds that will be half of your current time.

At ICORE Regional in August 2nd overall was ICORE Classic, who beat some know 625 IPSC shooter...

For those unfamiliar with ICORE euxx is pointing out that the second overall in the competition was using speed loaders and he left a bunch of people in the dust who were using moon clips.

With practice it can be done.

If I can get my shoulder back in order by the spring I will put some effort in getting to a 2.5 second reload with a speed loader. Man you set a pretty high bar.

I have a minor mobility issue. I can no longer sprint. I can keep up with a scalded slug. The division allows people like me to compete on a more level playing field. Gun handling, accuracy, and moving through the stage efficiently are essential the reload slows everyone down and I can keep up. In this division you can have fun and be competitive even if you have minor mobility issues. I think as people get older and things stop working as they should they should still be allowed to compete in IPSC in a platform that test their skills and be competitive based on their skill set. Not their ability or lack their of to sprint.

Obviously at least a few people here do not agree.

This is the reason why I am slowly moving to Revolver in the other sport. Aside from some really talented shooters most who shoot revolver there are more seasoned shooters. Demographics is not going to affect IPSC or IDPA like they have for golf. Both shooting spors started to late to take full advantage of the Baby Boom generation. Generation X and later benefited mostly from the rise of Action Shooting.

I doubt if you will see the best revolver shooters at the nationals (shooting revolver) as IPSC Canada has effectively killed the division.

A few years back the downward spiral started with posting of rankings for only the "popular" divisions and the defined process for getting a slot for a World Shoot only applies to these popular divisions. So better shooters either stopped going to the Nationals or if they wanted an opportunity to go to a World Shoot they simply switched to another division.

Inclusion of the 8 shot minor revolvers is unlikely to change this position.

You would have more fun going to a USPSA area match where you will be welcome and where you will shoot against better shooters. Better still, go to the USPSA revolver nationals and shoot against the best in the world, in a match with a much better format.

It was in the U.S. that this change started. USPSA changed the rule a number of years ago and there has been a resurgence of interest in the revolver division.

In fact, in the first year they made the change there was only one 6 shot major gun in the top 25 places at the USPSA Revolver Nationals.

IPSC is simply playing catch-up with this change and it could be too late to make a difference in Canada, since Revolver is officially an "unpopular" division.

I am bringing these to the Nationals in Calgary next summer. I hope that the best shooters in Canada can make it as well.

Very nice. I just picked up a 2nd 929 to tinker with during the off season. I think that's part of the attraction of revolvers (at least for me). You can slick up the DA and notice a big difference right away :)

I shot my first match with a 929 today. It is a game changer. It is both fast and accurate. Everyone else was shooting production or standard, but nobody in my squad was keeping up to my time and score.

I'm going to do my best to see you there. Definitely not in the best in Canada category, but stubborn enough to give it a try. I just ordered a bunch of new stuff from Brownells, DAA, and need a new Bladetech holster. My old Ted Blocker just wont cut it.
