ipsc revolver?

im just getting into pistols and eventually i want to do ppc and ipsc, i was just wondering if you can use a revolver in ipsc??

Yes you can.

The IPSC rule book is on line, check it out, it will let you know what the rules for revolver are.

I have just started to us a SW 686 L frame, I most often use my BHP 9mm.

It's lot's of fun.

IPSC is open to all pistols or revolvers 9mm/.38 or larger. What type you pick will determine what division you end up in, but no matter what you use it's a lot of fun!

Just remember to read the IPSC rules before you purchase anything as some revolvers don't fit the class and end up in open division.
In IPSC the division is actually "Revolver Standard" so several mods are a no go.
Great division, worlds different than a semi.:)

And also remember that a given division is recognized only if there are enough competitors. And you might be the sole participant who is packing a revolver.

Depending upon the match turnout - despite your having shot a revolver and declared revolver division - you might be surprised to learn you have been lumped in among those who've used pistols.

it puts you at a disadvantage, but i'm sure it woudl still be alot of fun. I use a pistol but one of the guys at our league night uses a revolver. he is pretty new so his reloads are slow but he is a fast shot and makes up for it. basically read up pn the rules and decide for yourself. either way ipsc is a blast and i love it. I'm new to it myself but i already knwo it will be a life long passion. Look into 3 gun matches too. i just helped put on a match at my local range and it was absolutely awesome. we had a great turnout and everyone had a ball.

Robert,

As one of the few and proud revolver shooters in IPSC Ontario I have never been lumped in with the bottom feeder jam-a-matics in a match in Ontario. The preferred revolver is the S&W 625 in 45 ACP with full moon clips (some guys shoot 45 GAP in them). Others I have competed against carried the S&W 610 (shooting moon clipped 40 S&W) and other models in 357.

Hope to see you soon.

"MIGHT" be the only one? From what I've seen a guy with a revolver would "OFTEN" be the only one.

But as already noted folks don't shoot revolver in IPSC because they want to beat everyone. They choose revolver to be different and enjoy shooting their prize toys in a venue where there's some goals to beat even if it's only to see if they can beat their own previous best score.

I'm not set up for it yet but I'm hoping to get a wheelgun rig for IPSC sometime next year. I may only shoot in club matches with it and keep the semi for the more official stuff. Or if this year I find some fellow wheelgun fans in the qualifiers I may just join in the fun.

This is what I shoot and its a HOOT !! S&W 625 and speedy-e-rack !!! After shooting 1911 for 25 years, now i am haveing FUN !
