I recently bought a new Benelli Super Black Eagle II which I indend to use in IPSC matches and waterfowl hunting. This cost me a dime or two $$$ and don't want to risk damaging the barrell by shooting slugs in an IPSC match. Is it safe to shoot slugs during a match if I take out the choke or would it be better to get a slug barrell for IPSC?

Slugs shouldn't harm your barrel, however you will want to shoot Foster style slugs (rifled), and not sabots. I've been firing rifled slugs out of my waterfowl guns for as long as I can remember, and never had a problem.

Oh, and make sure you have a choke in it, you can damage the choke threads if you don't. I've never done it, and don't know anyone who has done it, however in theory it can harm them. Use your IC or your Modified choke and you'll be good, even your full choke should be OK, try it at the range and see which shoots best. However looking in your owners manual may be helpful also
