IPSC Standard Shotgun questions.

Also what type of pouches/bandoleers do you experienced 3 Gunners favor for shotgun ammo storage ? Do Chest Rigs or Tactical Vest's work better ?
California Comp 4 or 6 round carriers.

Check out Shooting USA's website - there used to be a pro from the US Army Marksmanship Unit demonstrate them

Bandoleers are really slow.
Tac vests are for posers / wannabes, and are slow too.

QUOTE=Zeb;2861180]In a stage where you are to start with your shotgun unloaded, is it ok to have ammo stored in the Knoxx Power Pak or a Side Saddle ? Or does unloaded mean no ammo in contact with the gun ?

?[/QUOTE]

Hmmm

I am not so sure about that.

so far all I have found is

8.1.1.3 Unloaded (Option 3): fixed magazine must be empty, detachable magazines removed and
chamber(s) must be empty. The action/bolt may be open or closed.

That does not cover side saddles or Knoxx or Bandolier slings for that matter

I will keep digging or did you already get a ruling on GV?

I could be wrong, I found this in the Shotgun Rules Book:

10.5.13 Having a loaded shotgun other than when specifically ordered to by the Range Officer. A loaded shotgun is
defined as a shotgun having a live or dummy round in the chamber or having a live or dummy round in a
magazine inserted in the firearm or having a live or dummy round in a fixed (non detachable) magazine.

This beg the questions though, where would one load the sidesaddle, the gun rack is considered part of the safety area, no?

I wouldn't consider a side saddle a magazine...

I agree.

But where would one load the sidesaddle. I am fairly new to this, so here is my thinking. The shotgun is either on it's way to the saftey area from your vehicle, in the safety area/gunrack, on it's way to the start position from the safety area/gunrack, on it's way from the end positon to the safety area/gun rack.

I guess you could load the sidesaddle as you are walking up to the start position, just might raise some eyebrows from RO's as you are doing it though, wouldn't you think? Can't handle ammo in the safe area, so the only choice is to be loading the sidesaddle on your way to the start position.

My thinking anyways.

I recall seeing something about this somewhere.

Damned if I remember where.

That said you can load your side saddle during the MAKE READY portion of your run.

That is what I have always done.
