My personal opinion is that this is a fantastic way for a beginner/intermediate shooter to learn the stuff you'll need to move up to the next level of competition.

ROB'S IPSC TECHNIQUES TUNE-UP

Robert Elliott is offering a one day IPSC skills work shop on Saturday, December 02, 2006 at Wentworth Shooting Sports Club in Hamilton. The curriculum for this workshop is as follows:

  • Review of Basics: Accurracy, grip, stance and mount/upper body index.
  • Draws and reloads
  • Indexing targets and transitions
  • Take-offs and set-ups. Preservation of momentum and the rolling stop
  • Shooting on the move
  • Walls, windows and boxes
  • Change-ups

Price is $115.00 which includes the range rental fee and study materials. Bring at least 600 rounds, a notebook and pen, food and fluids and an extra brain for when your main one gets full. The class will start at noon and we will continue until we are finished or someone collapses (assume 8-9pm)

Sounds like a great program, how come ON West has all the cool
stuff? For us it's a long drive. Anyone have an opinion on the "Eric"
clinic this Sunday in Mtrl. My son is going, first time in training, I just get to watch.

Sig, that kid is going to be good. You're a hell of a good dad for encouraging him.

But what is this "switching to open" craziness?

Say hi to him for me. See you guys at the triangle, right?

I just did the two day basic course with Eric.. Amazing course. You really need the two days to get everything to sink in. The 10 person max, gives great one on one time with both Eric, and his Coach G.G.. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to get serious about thier IPSC shooting.

Rob shot Open(GM) for years. Recently, he did a short stint in Production. I spoke with him yesterday at the range, he just picked up a Tanfoglio Limited Custom and plans to shoot Standard for the forseeable future.
 
Of all of the courses I've taken (which included Eric's 2 years ago) I found Rob's course and information to be most useful and relevant to the type of shooting we do here. From Eric's course I took away useful stuff re mag changes on the move and some shooting on the move, from Rob's mostly dealing with setups, takeoffs, rolling stops, gliding into shooting positions, etc. Steve R was great about stage strategy, movement path, etc.

Rob was Std first, couldn't find any competition (this was long before Mike B came on the scene), so he went Open, and now he's slowly coming back to Std/Prod. There is virtually nothing in his course which is division-specific, so it all works the same for every div.

Sorry Dan it was not my idea, after Nats. he really got on me about
trying open. He did the Que. Prov. open and for the first time did
pretty good. he has really slowed down while getting used to the new
gun, Wolf says it's probably not a bad idea for a now untill he gets
a bit stronger, now geuss who is picking brass !
