IPSC tips

Follow instructions

Make sure all of your equipment is reliable. Then think "Finger off the trigger, muzzle downrange". Most importantly, do as the instructor(s) tell(s) you.

Perhaps also do not practice dry firing IPSC drills before you take your BB course. You would risk developing bad habits that would become harder to correct during the course.

...put a little piece of grip tape on your slide at the point where your trigger finger would contact it when you are "indexing the slide" ie...not engaging targets...

It will become second nature to feel for that tape

Will that be OK for Production/XD9?

Thanks for the advice

No not for production......but you can get the pistol into Open/standard class for the course.....then remove the tape and be in Production again :) same goes for the equipment.... ;)

Dansy is correct...just use it for the BB Course and your initial practice / dry fire sessions...

It's amazing how fast it will become second nature...then when the tape comes off...you will still naturally index the slide in the same spot...

Kinda like going to work in the morning...I bet you can never actually remember putting on your seat belt...but I bet you did

I'm an IPSC newbie myself, did the BB course last month and plan to shoot my qualifier next week. I shoot an XD40 Tactical and had the entire grip wrapped in grip tape for the course. Does what you're saying apply to me - can I still shoot production with the tape on the grip?
