Anyone have some details on the new `traditional" 1911 type classfor IPSC?

Specifically the use of single stack 1911 pistols, rather than double stacked 1911 types that dominate standard. I think this would be a good class for people who havent bought a race / racy gun.

except that it will be dominated by single stack race 1911's. extended dust covers, sight tracker barrels, thumb rests.......... not really traditional

What rules...

Last time I checked it was still just a proposal... so let's see where it ends up.

Maybe it will be the defacto "grass roots" Division that Prodopen...errr....I mean Production was supposed to be :nest:

WTF are you talking about?? The rules don't allow any of that stuff!

last time I checked the proposal would allow you do to anything you want as long as it fit in the box and had a 35mm wide magwell. So the optimum setup would be a single stack Sight Tracker with an extended dust cover and lightened slide. But in order for that to get approved a whole wack load of assisnine stuff has to get approved too

Lol...We're in Luck! IPSC likes approving assinine stuff!

I have no idea if the idea will fly or not, but a large part of me hopes it does. It would be nice to have the 9mm Spartan my kids will start out with be reasonably suitable as they advance.

lets have a division that takes us back to our origins, but with all the modern go fast goodies and tricked out space holsters still allowed  I used to think Modified was a ####tard idea, but someone decided to one-up it with Classic.

it can't be, if classic is approved that means everything got approved. nothing really grass roots about a $150-$200 race holster, so the window lickers can cant their guns far enough away so that they don't get hit by an ND while holstering/drawing. Rather then taking the time to pry their head out of their ass and learing how to properly holster/draw a gun. Thtas not how the world works today, we need to protect the idiots of the world from theirselves so they can further contaminate our gene pool for generations to come.

Why 38 super? Why not just go 9mm and save the hassle of reloading and just buy match ammo?

Lol! Match ammo! I like my guns to work thanks!
Actually I have tons of Super and Super comp brass that would be just fine in a SS.

Fair enough. If you already have .38 super brass, it's a simple step. If you are starting from scratch, 9mm seems the wise choice.

In a perfect world, I'd go .38 super in a heartbeat. Something about using a cartridge that actually uses all the available room in the mag makes sense to me. Kind of like 10mm over .40, the economics sometimes do make a difference.

Any news if Classic Division was approved at the General Assembly? If so, any details regarding the rules?

id like a ipsc division where one could use a near stock 1911 and be competitive. Its one of the reasons im leaning more towards idpa rather than ipsc. So i can use my stock 9mm spartan without having to add a bunch of "go fast" bits just to be competitive.
I like keeping my guns near stock or adding a bunch of stuff that's really just competition use.
