Ipsc Vs Idpa

...IPSC is all about speed and while I don't mind that aspect, I'd rather focus on precision.

This analysis shows that you have to be accurate to win.

I think IDPA is more geared as well for newer shooters, and people who dont want to spend alot on race guns- bring a stock gun and holster, off you go- ...
Even a brand new shooter with a $5000 gun isn't going to be competitive in Open or Standard.
New shooters don't have to spend much to start in any of the IPSC divisions.

ALL shooting is good shooting- try everything, and go with what catches you
Well said!!

I enjoy IPSC but the scoring has always been a mystery to me. Notwithstanding what I have read I am still not convinced speed isn't the dominant aspect in IPSC.

Does a miss in a stage consisting of 10 shots effect your score the same amount as a miss on a stage of 20 shots.

In IDPA a miss on a target where one shot is in the "A" zone would cost you 2.5 seconds no matter the number or rounds fired on either stage.

What would a miss cost you in additional points for the stages described. Dumb question probably but I have no idea what the formula is in calculating a score for a stage in IPSC.

Take Care

We hosted a CDP match at PFGA put on by Sticker and it was a lot of fun.

Thanks:D Glad you liked it. But I was not the only one that contributed to that event.

As far as "the R.O.s discretion" goes for using cover and Failure to do right,

The cover part is self evident lots of the time. If they shoot the targets in the wrong order when shooting around a wall, (did not slice the pie) then they where not using cover. It's pretty back and white. You explain to the shooter what they did and what they should of done, and they realize their mistake. The F.T.D.R. rule is there to deal with people that just want to win and will scam and bend the rules as much as they think they can get away with. And I am happy to say that I have yet to have a shooter try and pull a fast one on me.

The only time I have given out a F.T.D.R. penalty was for one particular course of fire at my match last September. The "Attacking Dogs" had to be engaged in a particular order, and all the compeditors were told what that was and that a F.T.D.R. penalty would be given if the order of fire was done wrong because a 3 second procedural would not make up for the time advantage that would be gained for shooting the rabid mutts in the wrong order.

The last six pictures on this thread show that paticular C.O.F.
