Just bought a pretty much brand new Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 w/out adjustable peep sight..Wood is kind of lighter coloured & with a beefier stock than the other LE No4's I have shot.
Any issues I should be alarmed with this fine rifle? Opinions & comments welcomed.

Look closer the butt on mine has been bubba'ed, note the rounded pistol grip. You cant tell but if the butt been sanded out like that you can bet that the rest of the wood was hacked away, which it was. Its wearing a new stock that I got still in the wraper. Since that picture was taken I have found a proper but stock that was not sanded and have installed it.

It is a sweet rifle. It started out as a 41 or 42 No4Mk1* Savage that got the full FTR in the early 50's new 5 groove barrel and Mk2 trigger. All matching and remarked as a No4Mk1/3 Faz FTR.

Have to look carefull at what appears to be correct.

Shoots about 6" low and right but I'll be adjusting that next, just have to check what front site blade its got and fit the correct height (shorter).

I had her out with my 42 Longbranch yesterday, the Longbranch has not been FTR'ed and still has teh 2 position flip site. Its shooting about 4" high at 100 so it should be just right at 300 :)

The rear appature site your talking about, it that a Parker Hale Sight PH5C

EDIT

I just noticed your in Edmonton, I would love to have a look at that rifle. I even have a set of head space gauges that I can tempt you with, If you wnat to check your spacing.

You sure its the Irish Contract? S/N PF309348-PF359347

Picked it up today & the engravings are as follows: No4Mk2 (F) 6/52 PF243216...
Buttstock looks like it has a different woodtype than the rest..

Identical! Except, the rear sight aperture is different. By the way nice one you got there..:)

You didn't just see it in the "up" position maybe?
If it's a Parker Hale 5C they are worth about $150.......
If the butt is different wood someone has replaced it.

Pretty sure it originally came with the Parker Hale 5C or equivalent peep aperture last I checked, but I didn't get it with this deal anyways.

Hmmmm. Looks familiar, oh yes. I bought one of those 4 weeks ago. But the untermense of Cfc sent the papers to the subhuman vermin in Orillia. I've heard nothing since!
Perhaps the administrative burden of this transfer stuff will be gone in a couple weeks.

Hmmmm someone did a bait and switch ? or decided to take off the rear site and sell it seperately ?

I have a DCRA that I bought from a gunshop. They removed the PH5C and it was sitting under the counter in a glass display. They wanted to sell it to me seperately for $200 more. Pricks

I agree entirely... I hate it when places do things like that... Its like the car dealer pulling the engine out of the car and then selling it to you separately...

If he did, it wasn't the dealer but rather the original owner that pulled the switcharu..He was just a middleman & I'll be in touch w/ him soon to ask him.

Fired it yesterday & it has a pretty tight grouping at 100m..The recoil on it suprised me & left me with a sore shoulder :)
