Anyone out there shooting silhouette? I see our Game and Fish has a competition, and it requires iron sights, open or peep. What would be good for this?

I guess as far as rules go it's a clubs rules match as normal Silhouette rifle matches are generally shot with scopes. Peep sights work well as long as you can see the targets, thay tend to get harder to see as they get shot up. Some adjustment for elevation is a must, assuming the targets are set a different fixed distances.

I was looking at that match. I was thinking I might give it a try with my old Anshutz. Do you know how big the targets are?

I'd imagine they are the standard rimfire silhouette animals that are placed at predetermined distances, depending on which animal. Too bad they went with an iron sights rule. I'd just use my scoped CZ452 american, but there's way too much work to retrofit it with iron sights, especially the front sight, lacking a dovetail. I might be better off just buying an old Lakefield target rifle(again!).

search around for a BRNO number 2, some had the redfield olympic sites on them.
If you find one with no sites PM me and I will hook you right up with a contact to get some.

Regulation smallbore silhouttes are 1/5th scale of centerfire silhouttes and placed at 1/5th the distance.for small bore there placed at 44yds for the chicken,66yds for the pig,84yds for the turkey and 109yds for the ram.
