iron sights on 10-22 with ATI strikeforce side folder.

Hey guys! Just wondering if anyone has by chance mounted fixed or flip up iron sights on a 10-22 with ati strikeforce stock. I've got one fo rmy sone for Christmas, but I don't know whether to order a low profile front sight "for handguard mount or high profile gas block" or a regular profile. Does the front rail sit on the same plane as the receiver rail, or close enough to use a "flat top" set of sights?

A little background. Rifle has no front or rear sights and has a fake can on it, but my son told me he wants a rifle with iron sights :S This is my predicament I'd rather put a low profile reflex sight on it, but it's not for me

the front rail is level with the rear reciever rail give or take 1/4" depending on brand of rail.

Factory ruger rail. Will there be enough adjustment between the front and rear to make up the difference?

Given that, I think I will want the low profile sight for "handguard mount" and not the high profile sight for "low profile gb mount" right?
