Curious what the members of this forum think is the best barrel mounted iron sight setup available on a recent production rifle?

I like the tikka battue sight, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of something else that is worthy of checking out.

For what purpose? Tikka Arctic has very nice sights but they likely won’t stick out in the brush or low light while the Battue sights would. The Ruger Gunsight Scout has nice irons too for plinking out to 200 or 300m. I have had my hands on their equivalents by Savage or Mossberg. I use to hunt with an M308 and quite liked those irons but they too weren’t the best in low light. The BEST irons I’ve played with were on the Swiss Arms classic green that I had. Nice turret for distance plinking and flip-up tritium dit up front for at night.

CZ 550 has quality irons installed (if not the best) but not efficient obviously if vision health may be an issue. CZ 557 front sight has a fibre optic insert ....

Sako Bavarian, Bavarian Carbine, Kodiak, Black Bear, Brown Bear, and some of the Hunter models all use a similar irons. I quite like them as they are fast on target and reasonably adjustable.

I have owned many rifles with peep sights and skinner peeps specifically.

I'm more interested in good barrel mounted iron sights like I said.

Slimbo are these different sights than those on the ruger no1 and m77/44?

One of the best pair of barrel mounted irons I've had was on a remington slug gun.

CZ has some of the best classic styled sights for their rimfire and centerfire guns. Love the hand adjustable ones they do. And lots of Winchester levers or marlins have top Notch irons. After that I find Henry's can have decent ones for a decent price.

I like the sights on my Ruger Hawkeye African, quick to acquire but a little coarse. I really like the NECG rear peep on my Brno 600. I like that Zatavas come with irons mounted - great rifle for a great price.

Yes, they are like a classic express sight but adjustable. You can buy them thru snapshots

Ruger Alaskan/African/guide rifles

i like as well my 375 ruger alaskan sights and i do think zastavas ones are not that bad and i liked the sights of the remington 700 bdl ...

I like the irons on my Sako Black Bear. Easy to acquire and once you have them set to a specific load they are reasonably precise at moderate distances.

I had the chance to try one of the new C19 ranger rifles and the irons on it were superb; I’d love a set on the BB. Think they’re identical on the T3 Arctic. Don’t think you can get the sights separate from the rifle however, which is a shame. The rifle is slick but it’s too heavy for my liking. If they offered a T3 Lite with those sights I’d be all over it.

Does anyone know where you can buy site bases of varying diameters that have the barrel band like the ruger sight?
