I am getting to be an "old guy" with bi-focals. Finding it hard to focus on that back sight on iron sights. I have a rifle I don't want to put a scope on, so any suggestions on how to improve the open sights so I can focus? thanks-Karl

Are your rear sights barrel or reciever mounted?

Moving them forward to the barrel, just beyond the chamber flare may lessen the need to close focus.

Otherwise, maybe a ghost ring would do better? I would head down to the gun superstore and try a whack of different styles till you find one you like.

These are what i use on my irons hunting rifle.
They work great, I can see right to legal light!
My eyes are going south in a hurry, so I want to get as many years with my irons as I can, before I HAVE to use a scope....

I am an old guy too and I like to shoot iron sights from time to time. I tried the new fibre optic sights and they were fine but when I took a spill with one of my rifles I found out how fragile they were so you have to be careful.

I put a white bead on my front sight and that helped me focus on the front sight and the target.

Like the others have suggested a receiver sight is a good option.

Use a peep sight as your rear sight.....you look through a peep sight and your mind naturally centers the front sight. The aperature does not have to be excessively small. They are much more accurate then most people think. You will only have to worry about putting the front sight on tagget.

Wearing contacts can also help.

Good luck
