Hi All,
I was just hoping for any information on how the new 7.62x39 upper was functioning, in particular which ammo was good/bad/too dirty. I am awaiting mine from batch 4, and was going to grab some Norinco non corrosive from CanadaAmmo, or the steel cased Dominion non corrosive. I was thinking of getting the non corrosive to spare the gas system, it's almost the same price as surplus anyways. Any other issues, lacquered cases, steel cases, hard primers etc
I appreciate any feedback you have for me.
Thx
Tim

I did a half-a$$ed review in the above link.
One thing I didn't mention was the fact I had rust showing up on the tail of the firing pin and bolt at tear down.
Now, it takes me about an hour and a bit to get home from the range, and cleaned up and had supper before going to the gun room for a field strip and clean, so probably 2.5 to 3 hours from last shot is when I stripped it down.
If running corrosive, I'd definitely recommend a complete field strip after each range trip.

After my corrosive sh!t is gone, I'll probably be sticking to the Norc. Non-corrosive ammo.

^^^ Use a squirt bottle and blast your whole rifle with a Ballistol/Water solution right at the range. It will start negating the corrosive salts right away and you'll be fine by the time you're home.

OP: So far the only complaints I've seen are regarding the use of Czech surplus as it's apparently lower pressure than other x39s...

I've had the same problems with my other rifles in combination with Czech surplus, way many more FTE's than with any other ammo. Thanks god I finally shot it all out and back to normal reliable surplus, it's ironic, Norc, Romanian, Bulgarian, Russian, they all surpass Czech in reliability.

I have a different upper, but when I was breaking it in the Norc non corrosive did not cycle all that well and certainly felt weaker in recoil. After a few hundred rounds of the old Chinese surplus it was running the Norc stuff ok.

I'm generally a greaser, but this one I lube with ballistol, so that water cleanup is nicer.

Have you had any issues with ejection? I have the 7.5 and its not tossing the round out 99% of the time i will find the round just sitting on top of the mag. I am using Norinco Non corrosive, i have some other stuff i am going to try but i dont think the issue is the ammo.

Interesting on the Czech ammo. I've always had good results with it and find it has no more, and no less issues than other x39 ammo. It cycles well in my SKS, 858, VZ and Windham x39.
