Is .22 Brass worth anything ?

If you know anyone who swages bullets, they can make .223 bullets from .22LR casings (as the jacket).

Damned if they'll pay you anything for 'em though - not when they can just but cheap .22LR ammo and shoot it themselves... THEN swage.

I'd save it for scrap if i had a blast furnace to cast it back into a billet. It is a softer slloy than regular beass casings as rimfire has to be soft enough to deform from the firing pin.

A 5 gallon bucket of brass is worth depending on prices $150-200. I save up mine, clean up for others at the range and the odd peice from work. Do it a few times a year and I basically shoot for free for the year.

Scrap yards are concerned about live rounds in gun brass and won't pay much for it as a result. I collect my own and keep it in glass jars along with the penny's..... some day I will cash it in.

Yeah... Some dont care... Some do... I generally get between $80-200ish per 5gal bucket...

It all depends on who's buying and current prices...

It cuts my yearly rimfire shooting costs.. When you shoot 20k-30k or more a year... It's a big savings.

Over here its strictly speaking illegal to buy as scrap without an FFE cert (free from Explosives) the same rules apply to all miltary ordnance. That said I weigh mine in and swap for lead. You could get around the FFE by melting it down already.
