Is .22 short still available in Canada?

Is .22 short still available for sale anywhere in Canada, or are people just working through old stocks they have on hand?

I see it all the time in Canadian Tire. It is new manufacture CCI stuff.

Yep. Not exactly common or inexpensive though. Shorts can't be fired in just any .22 firearm either.

I don't have any trouble finding them. The CCI .22 CB's are very quiet in a rifle for pests or very small game during the big game season. You can shoot them in most single shot and tube magazine rifles, like the old Cooeys.
Now the .22 Long is probably close to extinction.

You might have to call around for that. Ellwood Epps, Al Simmons or Lebaron have good supplies of ammo.

Yes and no. You can load them one at a time into the chamber. Since they are shorter than .22 LR they won't feed from a box mag.

Now, to me, you should be able just to use the short magazine in a normal 10/22. You'll have to cycle the bolt manually, but the magazine should feed fine. Someone on here has the kit, or atleast the magazine, hopefully they'll chime in.

I was just thinking $8 a box! Man, that's expensive. But then I went and looked at the price tag on my boxes of .45 acp and realized again why I like .22 so much!

No trouble finding .22 Shorts and .22 Long Rifles.Its the .22 Longs that are the hard ones to find.Not sure that any company manufactures .22 Longs any more.

I have a rifle and pistol chambered in 22 short. It annoys me that the ammo costs more than 22 LR.
