Just curious - is .32 Winchester Special (like some of the old Winchster '94s are chambered in) and .32 Special (like some of the old Marlin 1893, 1936 and 366s are chambered in) the same cartridge?
i have a 1949 winnie carbine in .32 special and I like shooting it as much as my 30-30s. the brass is very close in size to the 30-30, but the bullet is significantly bigger.
water witch: I have been using a .32 Winchester Special 94 carbine for hunting whitetails the past few years. I've managed to find some nice old Dominion and other old ammo for it. This year, I might use a Savage 1899 .303 Savage, if I can get out to test it out. I like to be able to shoot "minute-of-fairly-large-rock" at a hundred yards or so. Ammo for that one is tough to come by, but I have done some preliminary warning shots with "plan B" ammo.
M.T. Chambers makes some potent bullets for the .32 Sp. or the 32/40, 200gr. flat pts. and 210gr. in addition to the 165gr. fp. copy of orig. bullet. A 200gr. flat point puts this cart. up a notch from the 30/30.
