Is 7.62x51 mil-surp reloadable?

It depends. The FNM stuff currently available is Berdan primed. It is possible to reload it if you have primers, but it's a lot more labour intensive than Boxer primed.

The Hirtenberger 7.62 NATO that was available is Boxer primed, so it reloads normally. You may have to swage the primer pockets to remove any crimp.

Sharp pocket knife works perfectly for that!

IVI reloading

I usually keep 2 seperate types of .308 brass around. Commercial .308 and IVI or DA 7.62mm

I always use up the commercial stuff first, and in a pinch use up the IVI. It's just a bit more of a pain in the ass to reload the Military stuff, even with my XL650 and Swage tool for crimped in primer pockets.

I find the commercial stuff easier to work with, but the Military brass has a longer case life out of my M14 and FR8.

It's nice to know, that there is tons of military 7.62mm brass arond, so just in case there is a shortage of ammo out there, I can always make more right in my home! (If the girl friend would give me the time to do it....)

Keep all the brass guys! It's worth something to somebody out there!
