Is a 10 rnd SKS legal?

Probably took his pin out. sadly it makes him an instant criminal doing so. I have a norinco sks with the shortened 5 round fixed magazine and they must build them for 5.9 rounds because after about 800 rounds it will now hold 6 rounds no problem. Guess im a criminal now too

Centre fire semi autos like an sks are limited to 5 rounds in canada
Its not a loop hole its the way the law is written it's very clear on it...

All center fire semi auto rifles 10 rounds
Centerfire bolt action, lever action, pump or other no limit.
Rimfire no limit only on handguns.
Now the Lee Enfeild magazine is listed as not more then 10 rounds so.... it has a limit...
Now what matters is what the magazine was designed and manfactored for regardless of what it can fit in.
Now if you modify a magazine to fit a rifle then it's considered the same as the type of magazine for that rifle ie you hack away on the magazine to make it fit you might have to pin it to 10 or 5 rounds depending on what you made it to fit in. If it was made for a handgun but fits into a rifle then it's 10 if it was made for both a semi auto rifle and a handgun then it's 5 rounds in the handgun as well. If it was made for a pistol and some other company uses the same magazines then the company designed and manfactured it for a pistol only even though a rifle uses it
Now the sks that can legally shoot 10 rounds have been modified to use XCR magazines (pistol ones). You have to modifiy the gun not the magazine to make it work and you have to remove material in the reciver ie it's not a drop in process.

No, a MAGAZINE manufactured for a centerfire semi auto is limited to 5 rounds. The firearm itself does not have a capacity limitation. Why do you think it's legal to use 10 round LAR-15 PISTOL mags in a centerfire RIFLE that can take AR mags?

Well, unless you have some of those fancy AIA magazines, you can't. Any magazine DESIGNED for use in a semi-automatic centrefire rifle which is capable of holding more than five rounds of the ammunition that it was DESIGNED to hold is a prohibited device.

You probably took a lee einfield mag and put it in your m14 fine thats legal and not a loop hole. If you are using the regular m14 mags and they hold 10 rounds you are breaking the law.
What I don't understand is if the mag shell is the restricted or controlled part how is it that welded followers are legal? In my eyes it would seem to me that changing the follower, spring or even attaching another 5rd shell to it... As each of those shells follow the letter of the law...... These rules need to go boys

They're just parts but put them in a box beside each other then you have a problem ship them in just parts with sprins followers and other parts in 1 box the magazine wells in another untill the 2 boxs are togther then you just have parts. They can try and say it's this or that but relisticly you can make magazines your self if you really wanted to with some sheet metal and time to make it work (the question is would it work wll or not)
My idea would be modifying say 5/5 m14 mags, flipping one over and making a base plate that fits one the feed lips.. In theory there is no prohib device involved as they are "jimmy rigged" but if done correctly you'd likely get 12 rounds into a m14
