Worth $1100? I’m just awaiting year and seeing what opening up chokes cost. Nice pretty lumber on it, mechanically sound and locks up tight, just some minor cosmetic bluing loss in a couple places. I trust the person on the other end as we’ve had many dealings but I’m no older double guy by any stretch. Parts are not hard to come by yet I assume?

I have a modern O/U but the SxS thing for upland won’t let me be, but I don’t want to drop 4+K on a shotgun that will see limited use......

The LC Smith ( I have a 12 Damascus and 20 modern steel) cover a long period of time. You will see this once you go through their webpage. I paid up for my 20 because I really wanted it badly. You know how that goes. Really like the shotgun, made in '26 and very tight. Used but not abused. They had a number of grades and definitely have a following in the States. They did not have cheap versions from my research, just got prettier as you moved up the grades. There is confusion for a number of years on their production as records were lost. They are solid shotguns IMO and as far as price that is dependent on condition; and to the collectors dependent on model as well.

Not a highly sought after model...as stated above, condition is everything...does it have Ejectors? is it a Feather weight frame? Hunter one trigger? Year of Mfr? (good advice on checking the LC Collectors webpage) Check the stock good....is it "oil soaked", check behind the sideplates for hairline cracks, check stock dimensions, chances are they are NOT what you are used to....LC smiths can be tricky for choke work in the wrong hands.....I dont want to offend anyone but 1100 for a 12ga Field Grade is a little on the high side but you know what thy say when you want something real bad.....do your research on the LC Forum as mentioned above....if it means anything, i picked up a nice #3 Grade 12ga here on the exchange forum a few years ago for well under 1000....good luck, they are nice guns when in good shape, money pits if they need work and you will never get it back on a Field Grade.

I suppose a real nice field gun might bring $1100.00, depends on the day and the buyer. I know I had quite a nice feather weight (or whatever they called them) field gun that I sold a couple of years ago and couldn't get anywhere close to that amount.

Thank y’all for the responses. I was a little hesitant as I can’t inspect in person and all my other purchases have been BNIB. I have a return policy, so mebbe if shaving $300 off. I know this is sacrilege but a Huglu for a lightly used field gun? I’m not worrie about resale as I give my stuff I don’t want anymore to the kids...... Thanks again.

Maybe if it was pre1913 but really, a field grade Elsie 12 gauge in okay condition (we are talking shooter) sounds like a $600-$900 gun, not $1100.
