Is a 20guage adequate for skeet

20 is more than adequate. I actually shoot better scores with my 28 gauge, than I do with 12. The difference is less recoil and less fatigue over the long run; hence, better shots.

Agree. Same here in skeet and for years it has been the 28ga I will grab if we are shooting serious and counting
If I am going to drop birds it will be the 410 and 12ga. Always has been for me
Cheers

I shoot all gauges at skeet. My favorite is 20ga ,3/4oz . I have too many 20ga shotguns but i love every one. They all fit great and that 3/4oz load works great. I can shoot 10 rounds and still feel great.By the way several guys at my club including me shoot 410 all the time. Most of us have shot straight .

there is another thread on here talking about the preference of O/U or Pump. Your choice about what your comfortable with and what kind of shooting you want to do. I've had many competition skeet shooters at my club trying to tell me that I should get an O/U when I was shooting with a pump 12g. Since then I've made it my personal vendetta to shoot a perfect round with my pump just to prove them wrong. Besides that's what everyone used to use before O/U's became so popular.
