Is a red dot supposed to have a perfect dot?

Tried it outside today mounted on my shotgun, dot was much crisper. Thanks for the info! You guys are great!

You're lucky! Every red dot I have ever tried is fuzzy and it is due to an astigmatism. They all look like blurry stars to me except the Eotech which is worse and looks like hundreds of tiny dots in the vague pattern of many in the centre surrounded by a cloud of more.

The sad thing is that this only happens when I look at the dot with my right (dominant) eye. When I cover my right eye and look at the sight with my left I see the perfect red dot that was intended. Thankfully, there are lots of quality 1-4x scopes out there to fill the gap for me.

That's ####ty, good thing i didn't go with the eotech then! I have a feeling my right eye is a bit messed up to!

Just another little tidbit of info, the dots are not single dots in a lot of these optics. The dot is made up of many little dots. some eyes are sharp enough to pick this out.
