Is a rooster style cheekpiece needed with an ARMS#18 mount?

I know this mount is low, but since I have never seen one in person, I would like to know if it will require a rooster style cheekpiece before I buy one.

Thanks

Basically, ANY scope mount on an M305/M14 will require a cheekpiece to get a good cheekweld. It IS lower than other mounts, but still too high (in my opinion) to use without a cheekpiece of some sort.

So to scope this thing using the standard setup (and getting quality parts) I need:

- Bushnell Elite 3200 - $265
- ARMS#18 mount - $250
- ARMS#22M rings - $155
- ARMS ring inserts - $40
- buy a rooster-style rest - $60

plus whatever shipping... so $770

Hooooly crap!!!

Now I don't feel so bad about buying a national match front and rear sight and leaving it at that.

:( :(

Well... I would consider the ARMS rings to be optional (too expensive, IMHO), and you can also get a mount (Springfield Armories Gen III) for less than that. Depends on what route you want to go.

Rooster cheekrest is $50-60, and install cost is zero. If you can drill a hole, you can install it yourself.
