Is a SIG-Sauer Mosquito a good gun?

in a nutshell,NO!!
there are other threads on here discussing problems with said so-called
gun.

save your money, there's a lot better .22 pistols out there...

Mine cycles CCI minimags perfectly, works alright with yellowjackets. Everything else is a gong show unless I just cleaned it, then it will cycle for two mags, then start jamming pretty much every shot. It is pretty accurate. It is easy to strip and maintain. Apparently the slide is made of some sort of pot metal, the frame is plastic. I bought it because I liked the look of it, and it functions like a 'real' gun.

If I didnt use minimags in all my .22s I would sell this.

I wouldn't recommend it to a friend, get a ruger or buckmark.

I had two of them and I thought they were pretty decent pistols. The handling size and other features of the pistol were nice. It wasn't a perfectly reliable pistol but it worked very well with the more powerful ammunition (i.e. Stingers/Velocitors/Minimags). I accepted it for what it was - a fun practice pistol. I don't understand why people here complain that it should be 100 percent reliable - this is not a self defense weapon. It is a .22LR... I enjoyed it but I trimmed it out of my collection as I didn't need two .22LR pistols and I wanted to have my Single Six more.

Because you can get more reliable, more accurate guns for less, such as a Ruger Mk III or Browning Buck Mark. If you really want a .22 pistol that looks and handles like a centrefire pistol, save your pennies and get something like a .22 SIG P226, CZ Kadet, or a Kimber.

to sum it up in two words...

NO

oh my bad that was one word.
say it twice just to reaffirm its a toy.

I have a sig p226 .22 LR conversion kit, and it ROCKS! It cycles pretty much everything, I use the cheap winchester 333 stuff from walmart and it runs fine, you get a stove pipe and a FTE on the first round every now and then, but its not bad at all. Its so fun to shoot, and I dunno its just awesome! If you like the semi auto combat pistols, a sig 226 .22 is SWEET. you can always get a 9mm or .40 slide for it too.

I bought one a couple years ago, it jammed a lot at first, but then i put about 500 rounds of cci mini mag and now it will feed anything. I usually only shoot bulk stuff in it now without any trouble.

I also have small hands...so it feels great in my hands. the accessories rail and threaded barrel makes it a lot of fun.

but the main reason i bought it is, i dont like the looks of any of the other .22 pistols out there. so for me it was worth the break in period

My Mosquito Sport has been a pretty decent shooter. With a regular cleaning (after each range trip) it will cycle any ammo, even the cheap stuff.

There was a Youtube vid about the feeding problems where the guy pointed out where to polish on the feed ramp and the chamber opening. I did that and the gun has been good.

I bought it for the size and feel as a plinker and am satisfied with the performance.

SIG Mosquito

I had serious functioning problems.....CCI Mini Mags seem to work best but it irks me to have to buy expensive ammo just to make this gun work..

I used to own one...now Im ordering a Ruger... I don't know if they have worked out the finicky problems it used to have but I wouldn't be able to get a magazine through the gun without a malfunction.

I had one for a while but I just couldn't take all the problems it presented. The firing pin broke the very first day. The slide is pot metal and will actually break off for no apparent reason. Customer service is through Nichols in Montreal and they are the distributor from hell so don't expect to get any service done. They are also very finicky with ammo and like to jam frequently.

On the plus side, it was fun to shoot and it fit my hand really nicely.

I now have a CZ Shadow with the CZ .22 slide and I can't say enough good things about it. I have a .22 Ruger Mk III and it too is a beautiful handgun. I also bought a Kimber .22 slide for my 1911 and it is a joy to shoot and the accuracy is down right scary.

I guess what I am saying is that there are a LOT of better options available to you if you want to explore them.
